Very proud of the race Hobbs ran. He wasn’t afraid to lead, hold the rail, and then kick hard to a bronze. Excellent tactics and significant improvement.
He has the potential to beat El Bakkali in Paris. If he hones in his hurdling ability, he has the kick over the last 400m to win in a tactical race. Brilliant from the Kiwi

plus he has an 8:05 2 mile under his belt now, he has plenty of strength to stay in contact
When Hocker went 130m to go then he caught the top 2 right middle of the turn and he slowed down waiting for the final straight way, meanwhile Geordie just then was getting to that group but never slowed down. With the momentum he had there was no way Cole was going to reach that speed before the finish line.

If Beamish can just maintain contact he’s going to scare El Bakkali and Girma this summer.
Good point! Also this is a breakthrough(yeah world title) for uninterrupted training. Great job OAC/coach ritz
His ability to surge 100s relaxed into the turn, lane#3 and then continuous aerobic base will favor that low 8s 3k steeple. This world title will be in the toolbox for champs style racing
Beamish from 1100m to 1500m, final 400m, 54.xx; Beamish from 1300m to 1500m, final 200m, 26.xx.
We have this for decades from 3:36.xx 1500m men.
He was in, like, lane 3 or 4 for the last lap and passed 7 guys. He ran a lot farther than 200 on the last lap.
You received 9 up arrows for this? Beamish raced final (will this make you happy) 204m or so in 26.xx. Now what? Are you saying Beamish will earn an international medal this summer?
The first man to have likely split 1300m in 3:10.xx and complete 1500m in 3:36.xx was Herb Elliott. A lot of men have done it since Elliott era. It's not that big.
I honestly forgot he was in the race until I saw him on the final turn! I couldn't help but root for him and and so happy for him as well as Cole & Hobbs.
Where are the Hocker fanboys? Run down big-time by Beamish, and maybe ahead of Hobbs for another few weeks.
Great effort by Hocker, and silver! However this might confirm that his dominate closing speed is impressive in USA only races, but at the world stage he isn’t the only one who can kick
Anybody notice Nordas force Hocker into lane 3 on the last lap when there was nobody in 1 or 2.
That was racing at least. Mehary who didn’t belong in the final was running so erratically ahead of Hocker it was actively screwing him up. There was no rhyme or reason to him going inside/outside, slowing/surging etc. I get he’s a complete novice, but boy that was frustrating.

Girma will likely make it a sub-8 race. He thinks he waited too long in Budapest. I still like Beamish to be in the mix to kick down Simon Koech but the top 2 are a different story.

Beamish is going to have to get a LOT stronger before his kick makes him relevant against Bakkali. Bakkali beat him by 10 seconds in the world champs last year, and closed in 58 vs. Beamish's 60.5 while letting up at the line.
I know that was Beamish's first year at the steeple, and with this performance there's reason to be optimistic, but just want to be clear that there's a huge gap to close.
