Gym teacher is the biggest joke of a job ever

Not too proud to admit, but I was a substitute teacher for a short while long ago. One day I found myself in a junior high school, otherwise known as jail with home visitations.

Very, very, very obnoxious male student population. So when I find that I had a gym class with them, I was happy to announce we'd be playing dodgeball - with basketballs.

PE was once considered a vital school function because it was designed to produce young fit Americans in the event of war. It's easier to get an army mobilized, trained, and deployed with fit people. Nowadays, the military is having massive troubles finding VOLUNTEER recruits that can pass the physical, intellectual, and mental health minimums for service.

Classic Letsrun incel. I employ 3 pe/health teachers. One former UFC contender, two former D1 athletes in team sports. Without these people, middle school kids would lose their minds and high school kids wouldn’t know how to strength train, use a fitness center or be exposed to any number of rec activities. They’d not engage in conversation from topics ranging to mental health to sexual responsibility. these folks are professional educators, absolutely essential to our educational goals.

Marshall would be ashamed with how the troops are performing. Marc Baroncini you are rolled. Anthony Diaz you are rolled. Nathan Davis you were fresh and still go rolled in the 3k. Mitchell Burr you are a little boy and blow up every other race… ROLLED! Army will never be the same

And a large number of them can't clear the drug screen.

I don't think a kid should fail PE because they can't serve in volleyball or dribble a basketball with their non dominant hand. I was a PE teacher and had a colleague who did this. The kid ultimately passed the class but I understood why the parent was furious with my colleague at a parent teacher conference.

Historically, middle school and high school physical education was practical. High school in graduates in U.S. had military service. Since not everyone participates in a varsity sport, it was the responsibility of middle school and high school physical education instructors to get young men prepared for military service.

Living in former high school football coaches and female rugby lesbians need to making a living somehow.

When my kid's science teacher has 160 students in middle school, that's a problem. There's nothing close to redundancy.

Why shouldn't PE teachers hold their kids to as high a standard as math and science and English teachers? That would motivate them. I passed by the local high school recently and saw 1/10 of the PE students walking around the track while the rest are lounging around on the high jump pit and bleachers checking their cell phones.

Did he hear that? One of the groups, post graduate elite. There was a draft then. Those guys are fresh out of U.S. military basic training. The post graduate elites are on Uncle Sam's payroll.

LOTS of Colleges have Auditorium Classes with over 200 Students, Now they can Grade Multiple Choice Questions with a Computer very fast, The Teacher Talks Kids raise their hand when they have a question, It is Doable, And Look at the Clip I showed lots of kids, but they were all busy doing the same exercises.

The bottom line is someone has to do it. It is what it is. Whatever.

Some of the specific sports skills we teach are not important. Movement and fitness are and I have failed students who sat on the bleachers. I have failed students for not improving or maintaing general fitness standards. But I never failed a kid for not being able to dribble with their non dominant hand or serve overhand in volleyball like my colleague did. Lack of proficiency in sports skills should hold back a kid's graduation? A poor grade is embarrassing enough. I still remember my colleague taking the student and parent into the gym and having her serve and justifying the failing grade when she couldn't serve over the net. Standards?

Even if the job was simply babysitting kids, the way students treat teachers these days and the way their parents behave is more than enough to justify the pitiful salary earned by most gym teachers.
