I was on that thread when it originated. Never did she accuse everyone seeing Dr Brown nor everyone on thyroid meds of being a doper. That’s not in the thread.
I 100 percent agree. Never been a fan of TrackJenny. Now DropJenny. She’s never ever given recognition to the winners. Even at XC the one year she was slated to win she blamed her poor race on finals and lack of sleep blah blah blah. Never once said congrats to Angela bizarri on the win. Same thing yesterday. Her Post is all about cramps, leg cramps on and yada yada. Anyway some ladies that dnf’d or didn’t finish at the top congratulated the top 3.
Jenny is an attention hound. In this case, she would have been gracious, although perhaps foolish, to tuen down the attention. That said, she was never going to be a factor and she knew it. Orlando played up the hometown aspect, which is a stretch at best.
When Jenny races at Drake she is from Iowa. When it suits, she is from Florida. She will never actually finish a competitive marathon.
Yep, never had any chance to be in contention, but she cannot stand to see other women getting recognition that she believes she deserves. The way she used to disrespect her compatriots and competitors was always off-putting, so I was a bit pleased to see her fold here.
It was disappointing to see her drop out like that . On Carrie Tollefson’s podcast Jenny sounded like she was taking the marathon trials seriously so it’s bad that she didn’t even make 18 miles.
Those split second decisions to drop out of a long race don’t always make sense when you look back on them, but most people have had that moment where they just know they don’t want to continue. Sometimes our minds help us work through it and push on, and sometimes we drop. Practically speaking, Simpson was well out of it by then. But even Betsy Saina was running in a small pack which contained third place very late in the race and she still just stepped off the road and laid down. Who knows what any DNF-er was feeling/thinking in the moment.
Not the first or last person to drop out of a marathon. Besides it being the trials, the race was meaningless - if you are no longer in contention, why bother. Why no hate for Saina (a non-American who might have taken a spot otherwise) for her transgression?
One thing the internet has provided, especially in America it seems, is the unbridled opportunity for hate towards others. It is becoming an unfortunate past-time bordering on obsession and occupation. This is what leads to America valuing people like the Dumpster - who is the epitome of the "hater". It is a rather sordid and dangerous rabbit-hole , but is soon to be all-consuming. Sad reflection of modern society.
Just a guess, but if I'm organizing the race, I want to know what happened to each runner, and having a chip record of each of them crossing the finish line (where I assume there is medical attention) is much better than wondering if the ones who didn't show just hopped off the course and took taxis to their hotels or maybe collapsed somewhere.
Dropped after second lap and walked across the finish. So weird
Going to amend this to say I think they were telling people that were dropping on a loop to walk through the finish as she wasn't the only one. Such a strange thing to do when the loop was separate from the finish chute.
After she accused NOP of using grey area doping, she was being interviewed after a race. Then, a LetsRun reporter asked her if she was a patient of doctor brown. Her entire demeanor changed and she went into defense mode, admitting she was in fact using the same doctor and hormone therapy as the NOP athletes but she needed it. The video was posted on this site. Find it and repost it please.

I forgot about her Suzy Favor act at NCAA XC that year. She dropped from the lead pack, threw herself down on the course, then got back in and stumbled in as if she was overcoming a serious medical condition.

Very true. Jenny got called out.
At least Molly Huddle did not go to the pre race press conference acting like a pretender.
Oh my the haters hate! The marathon isnt her thing. I loved watching her race the 1500. Do hope this is a wakeup call for her and she retires. And thats coming from a fan of hers.

Another wild mischaracterization of what happened.
