Dubai is built on what is essentially slave labor. Folks from poor countries are lured there by the prospect of great pay (relative to where they come from). They are brought to Dubai by agencies. The very first thing that happens when they step off the plane is that their passport is confiscated. At that point, they are stuck and become slaves.
So was the US. Slaves from Africa to build on a land stolen from the natives. Or was this long enough ago, that we don't care anymore?
Slavery is a foundation of society in Dubai today.
Slavery is not a foundation of society in the US today.
Hmm, beats thousands of junkies, homeless, urine everywhere and bulletproof glasses in fast food restaurants in L.A.
Not really.

America also relies on a servile class of illegal immigrants brought by caravans and coyotes to subsidize urban life by doing all the physical work. But we consider this "compassionate" because Diversity Makes Us Stronger
what is the minimum wage in Dubai? How much does it cost to live there?
The minimum wage is $0.00. A lot of the workers are in constant debt because agencies cover their travel and initial crap lodgings and then draw on their wages for life.
Life is only good if you are a citizen getting an oil stipend and you don't have to work. But most of them just end up at the mall shopping in air conditioning and eating Popeye's and they all get fat.
Why are American cities so dirty and ugly on contrast?
Cities like Dubai do a good job of hiding their poverty. Go to the outskirts of the city and you will see horrible slums. You could argue they’re less humane because they want the image of being wealthy and amazing when really they’re trying to hide their poor population from the world
And you think that wins it for Dubai? Have you been there? I have and hated it. I'd far rather be in the US, and the US comes quite far down the list of countries I'd choose to spend a year or more in.
Some people making the connection with slavery. The real connection is both countries have money-obsessed cultures.

Ah, your usual stup!d drivel. I can always count on you, Kokinho!
Did you know that there is a difference between conning people into coming into your country and then enslaving them vs having people make decisions to better their lives by coming to this great nation and allowing them (even encouraging them) to leave whenever they wish?
Dear Americans. While your taxmoney is going to money laundering in Ukraine and war crimes in Israel, your own country is looking like this. pic.twitter.com/ORBTWlg5mp
Slavery is a foundation of society in Dubai today.
Slavery is not a foundation of society in the US today.
See the difference?
Bending reality to fit the agenda. US would not be what it is today if not for slavery and stealing the land.
Or are you trying to say that Dubai will be ethically acceptable in 200 years?
Unethically built wealth stays tainted forever, buddy.
Speaking of bending reality... by any reasonable metric, the economic benefits of slavery in the US were absolutely dwarfed by the costs (economic and human) of the Civil War that ended it. Slavery was reprehensible, but the "slavery built the US" narrative is utter nonsense.
We are all only here today. None of us are responsible for what others did hundreds of years ago.
Slavery is a foundation of society in Dubai today.

Of course you are responsible. You are reaping the benefits of what was done. If you disagree, give the land back to the natives and pay reparations to the descendants of the slaves. Then let's see where the US stands.
According to your logic Dubai should get an ethical pass for slavery, because in 200 years nobody will be held responsible for it anyways.
Dubai, Qatar, Israel, Bahrain etc. are fascist dictatorships with apartheid. Israel favors the Tartar-Mongol invaders exiled by 1945 Yalta Treaty and indigenous Semitic Jew. The rest favors the local minority tribe. None has due process, human rights, voting rights, criminal trials, etc.
Why are American cities so dirty and ugly on contrast?
And yet hundred of millions would give a pint of blood and 10 pounds of flesh to get to the USA. I wish more people would darn well stay in their own country. The USA needs to close the darn borders instead of letting in the dregs of humanity.
