I forget what we called it in high school when someone slaps you and tries to leave a mark in the shape of his hand on your naked body, but I got it real good from a senior when I was a freshman in PE class. Dude is my brother-in-law now.
Besides that, great memories from locker rooms during high school and college. It was really good team bonding.
Kids these days are weird. I work at newer school, and when we designed the locker rooms we only put one shower stall in them because no one wants to be naked in front of anyone anymore. We have f$&#ing changing stalls, so people don't even have to get naked in front of others.
What are the locker room norms these days? Do high schools even have showers in the 21st Century? My HS had communal showers but I couldn't imagine a situation like that today.

Yeah, from my experience high schoolers don't shower anymore. Real gross for the wrestlers who have morning practice.
Big university locker room. I'm dressing after a shower and of course there happens to be a guy changing right next to me. While he is getting into his kit and while he is sitting he pulls out an orange, peels it and sets it on the bench next to him while he finishes dressing and then he picks up the orange and eats it. I could only imagine how many bare butts shared that bench with that orange. Still haunts me after 30 years.
A man pretending they are a women

I just joined my local gym and on Day 1, I encountered 70+ year old naked guy who doesn't seem to know what a towel is for. Apparently, he's a regular exhibitionist. Blech!
A warning to you repressed Gen Z and Millennial kids. If you encounter me in a locker room then I will probably be naked at some point. And I don't care what you weirdos think.
Probably would have to be the showers in high school that would get burning hot if someone flushed the toilet.
Got porky pigged.
They were the referees. I have had something similar happen before.
We had a bully in our locker room who was on our high school basketball team who was 6'10" and about 270 LBS no exaggeration. He would go around picking on kids, wedgies, book jobs, etc.
One day it was my turn and I told him I was going to rip his head off. He had the exact opposite reaction I thought he would have and just left me alone. I didn't show it obviously, but I was scared to death, and I think he would have annihilated me, but I was raised in a military family, and I felt like my father would have been prouder if I came home beat up rather than wimping out.
Reflecting on this I would never recommend anyone do this. I was lucky.
Not the worst, but funniest...
Grew up in a white-bred NE town in the 1980s, where everyone on the XC team was white, American born. One year, we had an Italian exchange student who trained with the team. He was uncircumcised, where every other guy was. One day, as we were all in various stages of undress, one of the guys asks, "Hey Stefano! what the hell is wrong with your dick! Where's your head?!" We couldn't stop laughing. Eventually, we were able to explain the situation. We ended up calling the questioner "dickhead", which was our inside joke for years.

When I was in school in Edmonton, this socially awkward guy came up to me in the showers after a cross country race and asked me back to his place to see his screenplay
True story, many years ago. After the 1975 Woody Wilson Relays at UC Davis, I went to take a shower, another athlete was also showering. We both used the established protocol of leaving one shower head between us. I'm pretty sure that this person was actually a man, but I didn't really check him out. Just another shower. Oh, by the way, that guy was Bruce Jenner.
As a grad student, I was in the locker room that was used by the noon-hour faculty (old dudes who played basketball and squash between classes). My department chair introduced me to his short, hairy, naked colleague. I found our later that he was one of the most well-known and respected faculty in the University's history, and has received numerous lifetime achievement awards within his field of study. Not a "bad" experience, but an odd one
Two stories:
1. In high school, we had to take physical ed in 8th and 9th grade. This was at an old run-down county school. The coaches would make us line up (clothed) and beat us with belts if we got out of line. During the winter, they would have us wrestle on stained matresses down at the field house while leering at us. The locker room and showers smelled like piss and I feared catching something. Someone should have called the health department. I never used those nasty showers so I just toweled off. One of the pervy coaches admonished us not to "leak our lizards" in the shower. Well, that horse had long since run out of the barn and probably headed straight for those showers!
2. Many people remember the shower/locker room scenes in the great track film "Personal Best". Many real athletes were in the film and we got to see some of them in the nude in the locker room scenes including one well-endowed female heptathlete, one of the best in the US at the time. There was a hilarious scene where we got to see the skinny butt of the great late runner Kenny Moore, probably the GOAT of track and field sportswriters.
