Him, Hall, and Webb need a rematch. Obviously we don’t know what hall could realistically do against the other 2 but I’m sure Webb still has the ability to crank out 68-70s
Given that they are in their 40s, whether you gave them all 6 days, 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years notice, Dathan has the edge because he has the archetypal distance runner body
Ritz is naturally a bird, no matter his mileage or testosterone levels he will be rail thin
Hall and Webb are like cats, excellent mechanics/posture with more muscle naturally (Webb more than Hall ofc), where weight can be altered by adjusting volume and caloric intake especially due to the effect on testosterone levels. But a cat will never be a bird.
The older animals get the more they are unable to escape their true nature. They may be able to swing the pendulum far in one direction and hold it, as Hall did staying much lighter than he'd naturally be as a man (good for him it worked), but eventually the burden is too high.
There is no burden on Ritz keeping a distance runner's body, it's simply who he is and always will be without even trying.
I'm quite impressed with Ritz's 4:38 mile actually if he was running it with zero training. My Hicham El Guerrouj was running 35min for 10k on the roads with zero training in 2008 3 years after retirement.
Stop with the zero training nonsense. Ritz still runs and while it's not training of old, he's not dormant. He goes out and runs 10 miles in 58 minutes almost weekly on a whim plus runs with On athletes

Yes my Hicham El Guerrouj does that too. He goes out and runs 5 miles in 32mins on a whim. These are very easy paces for him but harder for us average folks.
He’s actually a 13 year old 7th grader. Not sure why he’s listed as 14 in the race results.
Dathan's son only runs twice a week, so 5:03 isn't bad for a 7th grader who trains very little.
Right and is not a predictor of high school success. Webb was a swimmer up until his freshman year and we see how his running panned out. Once he gets serious training I'm sure he has a high ceiling.

y'all have lost your minds if you think a 5:03 for a 7th grader that doesn't train seriously is "not bad" or that it's not a predictor of potential future hs success
