She looked like she wasn’t taking it as aggressively as last race. My guess would be she comfortably won. That, or she has a good poker face; she did not look very tired.
Her effort looked at least as much if not more than the two runners who were only a few seconds behind her...
I mean it's not a great sign if you're winning by 30 and 40 seconds one week and then you went by 3 seconds and in my opinion she actually looked a little more tire than the two runners behind her...
Granted it's tough to tell based on not being there in person and not really being able to observe everything. But I mean it's kind of obvious after all the talk last year and then she got beat convincingly. You really think it's likely that she's going to win by some huge margin or probably the same thing as last year will happen again
Looks like she is racing in trainers. Pegasus or structures. She just eased up also

she might be wearing the trainers for a reason. and it might not be good.
You guys are crazy. Valby had this race wrapped up at 1k. How hard do you want her to run in a race that is already locked up? She looked like she was doing a hard training run.
Florida's Parker Valby won the women's individual title, finishing the South regional with a time of 17:59.6. Watch the full race replay here. Subscribe to t...
I think the Alabama duo led by Lemnogole could really threaten Tuohy and Valby. They looked like they were cruising and closing hard on Valby on that short course at South Regionals. Another 30 secs to a minute of running and it looked like it would have been a very different story today.
If you're betting on deep closers at elite level you better be taking a heck of a price.
That's always the sucker summary...just a few more seconds/meters/steps and it would have been a different story.

Comebacks work in middle school
Going out hard also works in middle school…
reality is trying to read too much in the results of a heat is crazy. The goal is to advance not run all out.
People are delusion if they think PV(heck anyone) is going to be 20s faster than the field. It is a field with a half dozen 15:00-15:15 runners. You can get weird things where the field lets someone go but odds are against it.
odds are PV takes it out hard. Gets a 50m lead and then we can see if the field can run her down over the last 1000m. Should be fun.

She is by all accounts the favorite, so she obviously could win. But don't kid yourself into thinking it's a good sign that she races in trainers on a golf course. That's just a nod to the fact that her glass legs could shatter at any moment.
Katelyn was able to train and not race the regionals. Parker raced, looking good, but had a hard effort. I’m picking Tuohy over Valby for that reason. Good luck to all of the runners next week!

What? katelyn raced and won her regionals?? Sometimes I wonder about how much fans on here actually follow the sport closely.
It looks like it will come down to the homestretch with 5 or 6 runners in contention. Too close to call. Both Tuohy and Valby should be in the mix but the kenyans are looking very good too.
What are you basing this on... I mean it's certainly possible but it's not likely. I mean you did watch the race last year right... were there five or six runners in contention
There were many races yesterday. Tuohy won hers but Valby who recently beat Tuohy was in a faster race with a couple of Kenyans, That's 4 runners and I threw in a possible fifth to be fair to the talent in the NCAA. That's the basis of my opinion. We'll see how things turn out at the NCAA meet.
What mystifies me is why people spend so much time predicting. Isn't the essential fun part of sport that we don't know what will happen? Speculate a bit, fine. But all this trashing of others? Not my sort of fun.
It is amazing that you are mystified. That requires so much thought about what others are thinking and the reasons for it. Sounds like you are caught in your own web.
I think Valby will have a decent lead at 4K and that is where the chase pack of probably 3-5 try to start to move. Lack of late hills plays to Valby's favor I think - the question is how much do the ups and downs from 3000 to 4000 take a toll on her. If anyone wins "convincingly" I think it would be Valby but I do think 1 or 2 will make it close in last 400. Who wins? I wish I knew.
* and yes I know there is the last hill about 150 m or so out from finish.....but no hills like those at OSU in final 1500. Of course any runner really spent might struggle up the last hill.
