London in April, now New York. Is he building up towards the distance? Obvious his days on the track are over.
Thats a really unacceptable comment.
Lynsey has always been insanely jealous of any female who was in the vicinity of Butchart. As on the track at the same time. Butchart has always seemed like an affable chap but don't know him well.
I wonder what they'll both do for employment now their athletic careers are coming to an end.

Couldn’t happen to a bigger POS. Actually, it’s hard to tell whether he or his wife are more insufferable. Karma has no bias, and never forgets.
Care to elaborate? Why is he and his wife a POS? What did they do? Wasn't Lysney Sharp one of the more outspoken ones on the Semenya issue (back before it was popular to be outspoken on it)? She gets props for that in my book.
I wouldn’t go as far as “POS” but Butchart generally does come across as a bit of a knob. He just seems to have a very high opinion of himself and comes across as a little bit disrespectful and cocky. I don’t know him personally though, so I can’t say anything for sure.

That's just standard Scottish male bravado type behavior, unfortunately...
Never world class? He was 6th in the 2016 Olympic 5k and 8th in the 2017 World Champs 5k.
7:35, 13:06 and 27:36 PBs. You're wrong, he has been world class. He still is elite.
2x Olympian
specifically 13:06 back before everyone started running 12:5X. He ran 13:09, 13:07 & 13:06 - that was very competitive for the time, sure he didn't have the closing speed to win anything but that + his OLY/WC placings show he was world class
To OP - he recently did a podcast with Trackstaa where he talks about this all. After the above times he had a couple moves in coaches which didn't work out and lost a chunk of [career]time to injuries and trying different training. Now he's coming back fit to competition and the world has moved on at 5K etc, so I think it's obvious between that + his age (32yo) & new parenthood, that he moves up to try the Marathon now before he calls time on his career, because it's not like he's going to start dropping 27:00 to qualify for Paris now and he may be at a point where he is more interested in road money
Once he learns to run in the new spikes those 13:0s should turn into 12:5xs
I was watching him in the lead pack early on at NYC and was struck by how different his body type is from that of almost any world-class marathoner. In a marathon pack, he looks like a decathlete with that upper-body musculature.
It's hard to be dead sexy and a marathoner ... Props to Andy for trying though!
