Coburn had a series of strong years with Boss. After bronze in 2016, gold in 2017 and silver in 2019. She also has ten national titles in the steeple.
While Coburn has been obviously very competitive on the National field, domestically she's been just beating up a punching bag.
Take out the last champs and who else has she really had to compete against? Frerichs & ?? Quigley however many years ago that last was?
A single athlete doesn't make the best guidance on if the coach/team is great. We have no idea if Tim Rowberry is a decent Coach, it could just be Sifan is that good regardless. And so on and so on...

It remains to be seen if Joe can take someone from college and make them a world beater. They seem to get leftovers when things go awry for their athletes at other clubs.
Team Boss needs to re-load. Coburn, Praught-Leer, Thweatt, Grace, and Infeld are at the end of their respective careers. Bates and Fauble likely have another 2-3 years left if they remain healthy. It remains to be seen if some of their newer signees pan out. Cranny could be a very nice addition and a keystone member of the squad through the 2028 LA Olympics cycle.
Going to Team Boss is a wreckless idea. Nothing good can happen from this move.
In the long term, for sure. In the short term, a change of stimulus on top of the BTC base may help to have a pb or two. She may even be allowed to run the 15 like she’s pining for. But Bosshard is not Jerry, he is slightly out of his depth. Watching her struggle to pace barely 4 laps of the 5 at Pre just emphasized the reality of where US women at any of the mid to distance events. Have fun in CO but the rest is over.
I said in another thread at the start of the week that a friend of mine from Nike Beaverton told me Fisher and Cranny (and Seccafien and Thompson) had left. I called BS and that those two were the last people who would leave as they're the only two (plus Ahmed) who have been remotely competitive. Then the Fisher news drops and I'm eating my words.
Coffee Club seems to confirm Cranny too. Seccafien and Thompson I can believe easier too. Still surprised Seccafien didn't leave when the Staffords did but guess it was more complicated for her with her partner being based in Australia.
With Schweizer having another surgery comeback, that leaves the women's team as just Frerichs and Aragon for the foreseeable future.
By the time Houlihan's ban is done she might be the last woman standing. Would be quite fitting if she ended up being the only woman coached by Schumacher.
This will not happen, 100%. She is currently being coached by Shayla Houlihan and will continue in that direction. BTC is dead.
Cranny was an extremely vociferous defender of Shelby’s in 2021 — not just at the US Trials, but even at the Tokyo Olympics themselves, if I recall correctly. Seems like that might rub a lot of the clean sport proponents on Team Boss the wrong way; not sure they would welcome Elise.
Does anyone have their email addresses? I hope I can talk her and Grant out of this. The reasons to stay are so compelling. I could not get a message on their DMs
BTC is obviously dead. Maybe they can re-boot it with Oregon grads or new grads who actually want to move to Eugene.
JS and SF reputations have been badly tarnished through all that has happened over a period of time. Solely their own fault.
The only way people will forget is for both to be able to have consistently great results at U of O for athletes to be part of a re-boot. That may or may not happen only time will tell.
SF may leave at some point and get handed a head coaching job at a different university because there are so few women head coaches in the NCAA and not based on her ability to develop great runners as she hasn’t proven that capability at all yet.

I literally already called that last year at the first large exodus of people when Jerry moved to Oregon. Now we are seeing the final stages of this. It was always gonna end like this & I wonder why a year ago everyone was calling me crazy on here for saying that.
At least like this we are gonna see Fisher and Cranny race regularly again.
like pretty much every runner who left (or is about to leave Bowerman) they want to train at altitude.
Cranny should give NAZ Elite a good look. running with Krissy Gear, Abby Nichols, and Katie Waserman as training partners would be a good fit.
So...explain this to me? I thought pros generally run at sea level and go to altitude 2 to 3 times per year? Do all other teams live at altitude the whole year (in US)? I mean NAU does, Colorado. But I thought altitude training was a camp they did several times year. Being bases in Eugene wouldnt keep you from altitude training. There is an endless list of medalists that have been based in sea level towns and go to altitude x times per year.
Im not sure team boss is a great move. Good training partners but has Joe actually improved a single athlete? Coburn got her gold in the first season coached by him which realistically is usually a credit to the previous coach (wetmore) and has subsequently remained consistent until a slow decline consistent with age. Late grace had one good season her first year (see above). Emma bates seems like a natural at the marathon and was already running well, tho she could be to joes credit. Dom scott and dani jones seemed headed for big things in the NCAA and have sort of stagnated. Aaliyah miller had gone backwards. Emily infeld slightly worse than she had been the season before joining despite finally staying healthy. The biggest argument for joe is probably cory mcgees breakthrough since joining. If i were elise i would seriously consider mike smith
ehh I wouldnt want to train with my ex's new girlfriend but that's just personal BS
