i understand it's like a right wing trope to go after whether one needs college anymore, but if you do any hiring, the actual corporate situation is ever more credentials. not less. telling kids with mainstream ambitions to not get a degree is horrible advice. and with AI nipping at their heels to boot you're telling them not to educate themselves. i mean, the way to stay ahead of AI is to learn stuff you can't just google or teach an AI.
there are some fields like CS where one doesn't need a degree, yes, but that's been true in that field for decades.
some people have not considered that maybe when a candidate has a party that is now mostly HS grads, he might say things HS grads wish were true. it's a popular thing for a politician to do because come election day, more HS grads than college grads. is it wise mobility advice? no. but that's confusing a politician in election season with a career advisor. you want to know what the market wants, look up BLS or ask a pro.
