Speaking of which, where is Daniel Komen on Ingebrigtsen's 2-mile world best? It's been 4 months, has he even had the grace to acknowledge the new king of the distance?
Who cares about 2 mile ? If JI breaks the unbreakable 3000 m WR, then Komen will react.
I know there was a similar thread on this earlier in the week but now Kipchoge has no excuses. He's back on social media - doing PR work in China - and still crickets.
I'm a huge Kipchoge fan but even I will admit it's not a good look.
But I'm fine with it. What's always impressed me is his dedication to being the best.. Year in year out. I guess this just proves he's super competitive.
Let's just respect him for being the GOAT - he doesn't need to be propped up as some sort of Gandhi type dude.
"If I can inspire someone somewhere in the world, that is my happiness."
-Eliud Kipchoge, September 25, 2023
Shouldn't Eliud be estatic someone broke his world record?
He hasn’t congratulated him on social media but what if he did in person/over phone?
As of the press conference (Wednesday I think), Kiptum said this with Bob being the head of Golazo (his management):
“Bob told me that he (Kipchoge) had sent a congratulatory message…but personally, I’m yet to receive any message from him,” the 23-year-old said.
Kiptum to his end has a Facebook post from a couple days ago congratulating Kipchoge for an honorary degree he received a few years ago — seemingly an olive branch.
"CONGRATULATIONS My Big brother DR. Eliud Kipchoge for your Doctorate in Law at EXETER UNIVERSITY ENGLAND! Keep winning, you inspired me, and you continue to inspire many"
So it seems like almost a Joe Montana-Tom Brady situation. Montana was always standoffish to Brady, who grew up idolizing him and then surpassed him, even though Brady was nothing but respectful. Kiptum grew up near Kipchoge, probably a local running hero along with Geoffrey Kamworor. He went on a different path as Global Sports/NN didn't sign him or recruit him to the camp as far as we know.

I think most of us aren't really surprised about this. Kipchoge likes to put out the "monk" personna, but he's a professional athlete, not a monk, and it's long been clear that he's very proud, even arrogant, and while a nice guy, probably a bit petty.
But who says that's a bad thing? How many of us want to root for an emotionless non-person whose only goal is "inspiring" people on Instagram. We want to root for (or against) a runner whose only goal is to crush the competition, who underneath the calm exterior has roiling waters bearing him towards greatness.
Kipchoge is that runner. He's made the most of his incredible talent and reached the very pinnacle of the sport not because he's Miss. Congeniality, but because every day for more than 20 years he's aimed for immortality, and focused single-mindedly on getting there.
You may be on to something here. If you go to his "X" account, he posted about the 4th anniversary of his 1:59 in Vienna, but nothing about Kiptum's record run. People in the thread are calling him out for this. I'll wait because eventually he will have to respond.
No, he doesn't have to respond at all. He owes nothing to the people "calling him out". Does it make him look bad if he doesn't respond with a statement? Maybe. Maybe not. Do I care if he says anything or not? No.
Besides, how do we know Kipchoge hasn't reached out privately to congratulate him? Why does literally everything have to be done over social media?
Would help, Kiptum was babysitting his useless pacer in Chicago, how is it kipchoge gets perfect pacers and bottle guy and kiptum gets a hang on, while Hassan misses a bottle.
Why did you start a new thread about this? You acknowledge knowing there was already a post - but you couldn't just comment on that one, you had to have your own?
It's honestly not that surprising and not that much else to be said about it
This new thing where people sit on someone’s social and get mad if they don’t comment on something is already tiring. It is so controlling and passive aggressive. It is like getting mad someone doesn’t smile enough and you tell them in real life. Can’t wait until this stops being a thing.
I get mad at people who come on social like the LR Forum and get mad at people who get on social and get mad at people because they haven't made a "comment on something".
