And checking the race results, the checkpoints are not every 2-3 miles as claimed earlier in this thread but sporadically placed varying between 10k to a half marathon distance between checkpoints. Plenty of space and time to course cut.

There are 75 check points on the course of 153 miles. You do the math on average check point distance. I am sure it's not a Half Marathon.
Camille's results only show 16 checkpoints not 75 checkpoints like you claim. You do the math.
Yes, because they probably don't have mats at all check points. Just check any other runner. I am sure she would have been caught easily if she would have passed 60 checkpoints without running through there.
Looking at the official results on the Sparathlon website last night showed Camille Herron finishing in 5th overall, 2nd place women approximately 15 minutes AFTER Honkala Noora. What changed and how were the "official" results and check point times wrong and changed????

I saw her coming in third on the live feed. This 5th placing was a mistake on the side feed of that website. I noticed also a couple other wonky results which got corrected later.
Agree. On top of that, Herron constantly bashes and calls into question everything that Ashley Paulson does, due to a single drug test from 8 years ago that USADA determined was from a contaminated supplement. Since then Paulson has always tested clean and smashed records in major events including Badwater this year (and beat all the men as well). But Herron has to tear down, almost like she can't accept the thought of another woman being a successful ultrarunner.

Then those other 60 "checkpoints" are not actually checkpoints. They are just aid stations where the random volunteer may be taking a leak and taking a nap after drinking a beer waiting for the day to be over. It's only 16 checkpoints that are actually real.

Great run by Camille, not surprised by her performance at all. Weather conditions were better than they usually are I think.This Fotis character though I find very suspect. He comes out of nowhere to win spartathlon in a very fast time 2 years ago and has now repeated it in the two following years along with a new course record! He had done nothing of note at all prior to his first win (and still hasn't apart from in this event) and now he's supposedly smashed Kourros' decades old record?! I hate to cast aspersions on seemingly great performances but this is extremely unusual.
Looks like that road ultras and trail 100 milers are two very different things.
How did Scott Jurek manage to win both, multiple times?
No offense to Jurek, but I think these ultras (including WS100) were both quite a bit less competitive back in his day.
As far as Camille goes....she has multiple records at 100-miles to 24 and 48 hours on roads/track/flat trails etc. I really doubt she would do anything dishonest (she is also very strong anti-doping). Looks like she ran really well in good conditions. Congrats! With that in mind, I'm not surprised she took down the record by such a large margin.
The records at this kind of race are generally going to be less competitive in depth than say a Comrades or UTMB (which are more hotly contested ultras).
