the runway cost is more variable, if you build your own runway it will simply be the cost of lumber then around $30-50 per foot of runway rubber (usually want at least 120 feet to run up)

poured concrete will be at least $10k

your yard needs to be minimum 150 feet in length but realistically need 200 feet, and you can't live on a significant incline or decline

So my best guess for a backyard PV pit is around $25k - $250k (barebones vs if you build an enclosure with roof to train year round)

When we were young my friend John briefly had a pole vault pit in his backyard. He simply dug a hole in the dirt adjacent to a huge pile of leaves he was using as a high jump pit. On his second or third attempt, the sapling he used as a pole snapped, along with his arm. His dad bagged the leaves and filled in the hole effectively ending his career as a jumper.
