Whether you love or hate Fauble, this was a missed opportunity for the US. On to Chicago for American marathoners. I was hoping Faubs would nab an auto qualifier at Berlin, and two guys would nab the remaining to autos at Chicago and the qualifying situation would be taken care of this fall.
Yeah devastating for him but he must accept that he is not as good as he thinks he is. Even setting a PR he will be more than 2kms behind the top world class marathoners. This is not 1990. I guess there’s no American talent in the marathon they are running the same times than 40-50 years ago and with super shoes.

Fauble hyper himself up so much he started believing he was Kipchoge.

Today was a well deserved bite of humble pie.
Come on that’s not fair. He never thought he was Kipchoge. He wanted to run 2:07. He couldn’t, it happens. US marathoners are not going to be competitive on the world stage anywhere.
Good lord the marathon is humbling. Guy goes through a whole training block, tapering, fastest course in the world, perfect weather… drops out @ 18 miles. I’d be devastated, and it’s only a hobby for me. Can’t imagine what he’s goin through
Could be a blessing in disguise, he dropped out, so he could take another shot at a fast time in Valencia in December
I think he must have been sick if he fell apart that early and was vomiting . It wasn’t like he tried to run with the leaders . 63:46 first half on a flat course in good weather shouldn’t have caused him to crash that soon.

Unless a 2:07:12 pace was too fast for a barely-under 2:10 guy?

Disappointing to him for sure. On the brightside, the fact he laid it out there to try for a breakthrough is a massive accomplishment. Sometimes you gotta lay it on the line and go for it. Proud of his courage to try and get in the game.

NO, NO, NO. He needs to quit saying he is "in 2:07 shape." It appears he is not and never will be. He is a 2:10 marathoner. Nothing more. He runs about the same time as a lady WHEN he finishes a marathon wich is becoming increasingly rare. Please DO NOT, scott, say you are in 2:07 shape again. You are in DNF shape.

That would be 2:07:32 pace. His pr is 2:08:52 at Boston so that shouldn’t have been too fast on a flat course .

At least he stopped running before he got passed by a woman. That's worse than a DNF.

Actually he is neither an "in 2:07 shape marathoner" as he states or a 2:10 marathoner as you state. He ia a 2:08.xx marathoner. This concept is apparently hard for people for some reason.
