Went the HS and college here and has lived here ever since.
What's going on?
I'd love to know what the hold us is well. It's not like we seem to care about the border at all. He's been living here for over a decade and can't get citizenship - it's always seemed odd to me.
This result also shows you how disadvantaged American-born runners are at the longer distances. No one not born in Arican has run faster than 2:04:51 in the marathon.
Ches has done next to nothing in recent years and yet he's 30 seconds better than an Amerian EVER at the half. How?
I think all of YOU need to accept this. HE doesn't seem to have a problem with any of this. The LRC MB is constantly going on - disapprovingly - about where he is a citizen and where he's not. As far as I can tell, this is all from the fans. Feel free to post any interview or quote of Ches himself saying he is a US citizen/ is supposed to be one/ is trying to be one, or anything to that effect. I've never seen/heard him even mention it.
The problem seems to be that many of you feel Ches and his accomplishments would have more validity if he was running for the glory of the USA. Do you feel this is all meaningless if it's a Kenyan doing it? Would stars and stripes push him over the line from also-ran to all-time great? Does this half performance or the indoor stuff a while back not count as it is now? Does this guy basically not exist in your minds unless/until he becomes American?
I think he's cool and I'm rooting for him in NYC and beyond. He's Kenyan and he's a very good runner. I don't need any more for my loyalty.

Maybe it's the Skechers.
CIS is not the problem. YOU are! wrote: I think all of YOU need to accept this. HE doesn't seem to have a problem with any of this. Just doesn't seem fair that he can't say he's an Olympian. (representing anyone)
I use to say that Ches has been screwed for years and it started while he was in Oregon racking up absurd hardware for the dear old Ducks. You are telling me that Phil Knight with his platform could not have fast tracked Ches to Citizenship somehow? He is now 29, his clock should have been started at St Benny's in NJ. There is something else to this story, never figured out what that was.11 years since going to Oregon? Way too long. With this administrations lax overall position on border crashing in general, you would think that a guy with this much legit visibility would have been easy to slide thru?

He has been unfairly treated in his quest to obtain citizenship.
Seems as if the Kenyans who did get US citizenship had to join the army and run for the army team to get it
If he enlisted in our armed services, he would have become a US Citizen a long time ago. Now, he's 29 years old and his peak running years are running out.

Are you serious? Its well known that Cheserek has been trying to get American citizenship for a decade, he has spoken about it many times in interviews.
After a historic NCAA career at Oregon, Edward Cheserek is now chasing his professional running dreams, most of which his dream of representing the USA.
Elliott Denman whispered to me, in the hot and humid tent that was the media tent at the USA Outdoors, that he had an exclusive. Edward Cheserek is beginning process to become US citizen. Ed Cheserek, photo by Cheryl Treworgy...
A Kenyan who can run 59:11 is a very good runner. And American who can run 59:11 will probably never need to work again after they retire. It’s amazing either way, but it’s not surprising that Cheserek has tried to get citizenship, or that people have followed that storyline.

Has he though? lots of Africans have become citizens in the years we’ve been talking about Ches. methinks maybe he hasn’t or isn’t doing something right to become one.
