What's the point of this nonsense? Unwatchable. You just dont find out who is the best with these conditions, and I dont get why they just dont move to midnight? Or another, better day.
That organizers should try to not run distance races in the peak heat of the day makes sense.
But this complaint reminds me that there are, apparently, a sub-set of fans who don't find the inclusion of hills and/or heat interesting. And that's fine, different strokes.
But, it ALSO appears that there is sub-set who thinks that hills and/or heat should NEVER be in the mix. Everything should be Berlin on 48 degree day. Don't get that at all. And really disagree.
Apparently, as well, we need a question on every Olympic/WC application: "Is it EVER hot in your city in the summer?"

People whine because there are so few elite level fast track 10,000s nowadays. If there were a couple of diamond league 10ks where a fast time was possible you'd see less whining that the wc 10k should be fast. You won't see the same whining if the 1500 is tactical and won in 339 - you'll still see some, but not as much. Some feel every race should be a pr attempt for whatever reason.

Perhaps. Of course, the differences in speed between the 2 types of races are largely, if not entirely, independent of heat. If the OG or WC 10K was THE only 10K every year, and run in perfect conditions, it STILL wouldn't be won in mid-26 or faster the vast majority of years. There aren't many "Rudisha races" !!

Yeah you can’t actually tell who the best is. Not like the guy who’s 20 second faster than everyone else has won the last 3 championships or anything.
If it were cooler, the REAL best runner woody kincaid would win!
You don't get top performances from anyone, which is why that'll typically end up a 28 minute race, but the thing is it's no secret that the real thin guys will run at 90% ability while the more muscled guys will run at 75%. I didn't watch that "race" because I could tell you ahead of time that half the field will be carnage by half to 3/4 point of it. I will continue to ignore such events held at such conditions.
