Molly doesn't race and she gets shade thrown at her here. Molly races and she gets shade thrown at her here. Molly does trail races for fun and she gets shade thrown at her here. Molly exists and she gets shade thrown at her here.
It'd be great if by some miracle she mounts an amazing comeback by trials and makes the team just to f with you guys.
But back to my main point: Because the course is rather hilly (and often hot/humid) and only 7 miles....it is basically worthless to try to draw any kind of "marathon equivalent performances" off of. I don't even know how the OP decided to try to extrapolate those numbers...by using some "calculator" found online?! It's just a guess (and not a valid analysis attempt).
You know what other course is considered "rather hilly" and often has bad weather? The Boston Marathon.
SMH. If there is even a highway overpass, marathon runners consider it "rather hilly".
Normally I would agree with you about Falmouth and it being a poor race with which to extrapolate marathon times. Usually...between heat and hills...your Falmouth pace can match your half marathon pace in good conditions. But this year the weather was unusually nice...with a dew point in the upper 50's...and even a tailwind to negate the effect of any hills. Consequently, you can likely project your equivalent marathon time...based on this year's Falmouth time...with more accuracy. Had you run this year, I'll bet you would have wondered if this was the same race you ran previously.

I don't even know why I bother posting on here sometimes....you act as if I'm a N00b runner who isn't aware of how Boston runs.
How many times have you run Falmouth? How many times have you run Boston? What are your times?
If you want to "extrapolate" possible "equivalent" Boston Marathon times from a hilly 7-mile road race like Falmouth then go ahead. All I'm saying is it's probably not going to be very accurate or meaningful.

Respectfully Sage, you post here to gain interest in your YouTube channel. That's at least part of the reason and I would do it too, it's free advertising, take it.
Molly Seidel actually ran the Falmouth Road Race 7 Miles for the elites this morning with bib F16. She wasn't even listed in the press releases from last week announcing the elite start list so she must have gotten special treatment from the race organizers to start. She finished 8th women with a time of 36:44 for the 7 miles which would translate into a 2:28:56 marathon.
Hellen Obiri won the elite 7 miles for the women in a time of 35:13, which is the equivalent of a 2:22:47 marathon.
I think this result from Molly is only meh. Her target of the Chicago Marathon is coming up very soon on October 8th. She will be able to finish but won't trouble the women at the front.
In terms of a training cycle October 8 isn't really 'coming up very soon'. You can't accurately judge Molly's marathon fitness on October 8 from the Falmouth results.
c'mon man. like you never ran a shorter race and walked away thinking about how it related to marathon fitness? also, it's 7.0 miles
How many times have you run Falmouth? And a road marathon? The year I ran 1:04 for the half and 2:16 for a marathon I ran 34:40 at Falmouth.
I believe the course is not exactly 7.0 miles (it's some odd ball distance actually because it's a "pub to pub" kinda run). That doesn't really matter though as it is also notoriously hot/humid (late morning start) and pretty hilly.
So what I'm saying is it's not even worth trying to "guestimate" an "equivalent marathon time"....especially from shorter race in those conditions that isn't even a standard distance. In that regard the OP's estimations are just bad analysis imo. Just guessing and making up numbers based on what?
I have run Falmouth a handful of times and more sub 2:18 marathons than you too. But I don't look for reasons to boast my PRs. You should probably list that your 2:16 is actually 2:16:52 btw

Only the willfully blind won't accept there is a big difference in running speed between Obiri/Sisson and Seidel. You won't naturally be able to train that gap in 6 weeks, especially since Molly has never run as fast as they have.
For the record, "certified" means "at least." Falmouth is closer to 7.1 than 7.0. So you weren't entirely wrong there. It was a beautiful day today but the course as you know is not a rocket. Seidel has never been favored in short to long distance conversions, even from faster courses. I'd be with you on this even if you weren't you. Having just a little inside information, I'm actually very surprised she ran this well.
You are incorrect about the measurement of the course, which was redone just a few years ago.
No. It measures long but unlike Manchester they didn't want to certify to the hundredths. It is AT LEAST 7.05. You have no idea how many courses are long but the director wants the start and finish in a certain place.

The reason I know your marathon extrapolation is terrible is because you also extrapolated from "actually ran"and "wasn't...in the press releases" to "must have gotten special treatment" to get into the race.
It's equally plausible (if not more so), that she asked not to be in the press releases and was always slated to race.
Such negativity. It's a positive result after a period of no serious racing. Not world class, but a good beginning for a comeback. I'll never understand why some insecure losers feel the need to criticize everything done by certain runners who must inexplicably trigger them.
