Letsrun, you need to get to the bottom of this. Sounds strange, with Jakob running smoothly yesterday, but on the other hand it also seems unlikely that a guy like Bragagna should say this without having inside info.
What kind of injury could theoretically allow running 3 rounds of 1500, but prevent 5000? Mild stress reaction?
We don’t even know that Bragagna reported Jakob was injured and scratching the 5k, we just know that this Kiplieri guy claims he did—and I don’t consider him a reliable source. Particularly since it seems like nothing would make him happier than Jakob not medaling in the 5k.
Me and other million italians heard what he said. He works for the italian national TV, not an unknown Channel actually.

ya. i thought it was weird when i went back in the jakob 5000 thread, and this kiplieri guy was the most adamant poster that Jakob didn't have a chance against the africans. now he's acting like he's distressed about a possible injury to jakob. lol

Let's talk again when i am proved to be right. Ok i don't consider him to be the favourite for 5000m and i was provocative when i said he has no chance but i am telling the truth when i say that Bragagna gave that news.
I did listen to it now and you are right, they said so, but I truly believe it has no foundation and they might have meant to mean someone else. They said he was injured and it's surprising hes at the start, but they made it sound like public knowledge and it obviously does not look like it is.

Please you all, read this. I'm not mad and all the italians could hear what Bragagna said. Keep in mind that he personally knows the Ingebrigtsen. It Is hard to Say "he is skipping the 5000m" in front of 60 million people if It Is not true.
that's my point though. I think he was referring to someone else. They probably meant someone else instead of ingebrigtsen. In addition, they made it sound like even partecipating to this world championship should be a surprise and there is nothing on the internet, so obviously they meant someone else. Ingebrigtsen also clearly does not look injured, so we are literally discussing nothing.

And why then did they mention the choice to skip the 5000m race? They mentioned his name and that choice so they were clearly talking about him.
His positioning today was abysmal. If he's boxed in like that in the finals I can see a runner with a fast PR and a good kick winning - Nuguse for example.

I don't think he was nervous in the slightest. He knew he could do whatever he needed to do. In the final he won't run far back like that so late in the race.

What name did you hear? Ingebrigtsen? Jakob Ingebrigtsen? Henrik Ingebrigtsen?
Did you know that Henrik Ingebrigtsen also is picked to run the 5000m in Budapest? Against all odds (because of injuries) -have you / your Italian sources confused one brother with the other? But there’s no DNS on Henrik either…

Sitting back like that was totally intentional. He did the same thing in the heats at European Indoor Champs (actually left it even later that time). You can do that when you’re the class of the field.
I think that was a statement, effectively “I can win the final however I want.” My guess is he will still go hard from the front like usual and try to break El G’s CR.

I think kipleri is Passant under yet another screen name. Great to see Katir get crunched today, by the way.
