But in all seriousness it can't be that hard to post a new thread for today and pin it to the top. Are any mods working today? It's only the most important meet of the year.
Was there a marriage proposal today? I only caught the end of the morning session (w 100 heats onwards) live but I saw clips of what looked like a proposal in the NBC closing montage. Can't find anything online about it
Morning session of the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS has been going for hours and there is still no thread?
Admins are sleeping. 🙄 Letsrun.com is not a serious establishment.
Guess this is the official thread.
Not a good start for USA fans . . . Britton Wilson dead last in heat 4 . . . then rolled off the track in a wheelchair . . . shin splint problems never resolved.
So now, no SML, Mu and Wilson in the 4x400 relay . . .
It’s not great but I’m also not worried. USA could still field a team of any combination of Diggs, Thomas, Little, Muhammad, Holmes, or Irby-Jackson.

This has got to be the worst men’s and women’s 400 showing by the USA in my memory.
but we have great depth at 400 hurdles, and a mixed 4x4 that ran well. so, somehow, I think we’ll get it done in the relay. 🤷♂️

I maintain that Wilson needs to eat something.
Did she know she was hurt in advance? Did we send an injured athlete to WC? Is there any process for deselecting an athlete that is injured but does not voluntarily give up their spot? (If that was the case here as you imply).
I remember thinking the women's 400m flat was going to be the most insane race in Budapest, only for SML and Eid Naser to pull out, and Wilson to go out in the Heats lol.
Well, there's still Paulino, Kaczmarek (who's just locked up the Silver Medal), Klaver, Adeleke, and Williams

The women’s heptathlon is shaping up nicely. Always more fun when it comes down to the 800 to decide the medals. Katarina Johnson-Thompson vs. Anna Hall for gold and Chari Hawkins vs. Noor Vidts for bronze, most likely.
Shows how much I know about the heptathlon - one event later (javelin) it looks like Hawkins and Vidts are out of it, and I think the medals will be:
1. Anna Hall
2. Katarina Johnson-Thompson
3. Anouk Vetter
Assuming Vetter from the Netherlands doesn’t fall meters before the finish in the 800. Hall has to put a gap on KJT in the 800 to overtake her but since she beat KJT by 9+ seconds in an 800 earlier this year, I think she will.

According to Trey Hardee she will need to beat KTJ by 4.4 seconds.
