Was there a marriage proposal today? I only caught the end of the morning session (w 100 heats onwards) live but I saw clips of what looked like a proposal in the NBC closing montage. Can't find anything online about it

Really interesting results from the 400m heats

Kentaro Sato runs 44.77 for a Japanese NR (plus two other Japanese runners through, Fuga Sato with a 44.97 and Yuki Joseph Nakajima with 45.15)

As already mentioned, Ingvaldsen nearly breaks the European record (44.33) with his 44.39

And Hungarian athlete Attila Molnar runs 44.84 for a NR in front of the home crowd

All the favorites seem to be through smoothly, though Zambrano was DQd

This has got to be the worst men’s and women’s 400 showing by the USA in my memory.

but we have great depth at 400 hurdles, and a mixed 4x4 that ran well. so, somehow, I think we’ll get it done in the relay. 🤷‍♂️

Did she know she was hurt in advance? Did we send an injured athlete to WC? Is there any process for deselecting an athlete that is injured but does not voluntarily give up their spot? (If that was the case here as you imply).

I remember thinking the women's 400m flat was going to be the most insane race in Budapest, only for SML and Eid Naser to pull out, and Wilson to go out in the Heats lol.

Well, there's still Paulino, Kaczmarek (who's just locked up the Silver Medal), Klaver, Adeleke, and Williams

Shows how much I know about the heptathlon - one event later (javelin) it looks like Hawkins and Vidts are out of it, and I think the medals will be:

1. Anna Hall

2. Katarina Johnson-Thompson

3. Anouk Vetter

Assuming Vetter from the Netherlands doesn’t fall meters before the finish in the 800. Hall has to put a gap on KJT in the 800 to overtake her but since she beat KJT by 9+ seconds in an 800 earlier this year, I think she will.

just like in Oregon, there's something weird going on with the Seiko timing and the blocks in the sprints.

Orders being changed after the original timings, widly inaccurate initial timings on the screens etc

In the last two women's 100m heats there was so much movement in the blocks that wasn't pulled up at all.

Since they have a9 lane track, why don't we take top 3 from each heat and have a 9 person final? If there is a tie, you do a raceoff.
