nah. He even said that when he was considering signing with Puma that as long as they could make a good spike he was super excited to join the brand that Usain Bolt ran under.
could he jump 19’ without spikes. I don’t know. Maybe, but you need to be ready to jump 6m plus to win these meets nowadays.
and why exclude throwing events? A barefoot Ryan Crouser is not beating a shod Kovacs
I don’t think faith is wining the 1500 without spikes assuming she has to run the rounds barefoot and not just the final.
my vote goes Hassan in the 10,000. Final only and won’t have to contest with faith. I don’t really now how realistic that is though.
Out of anyone in the pro running scene I would definitely count on Hassan to be able to pull off this type of batsh!t crazy type of challenge. Lines up with everything she’s done. Hassan the Worldbeater. The 🐐
Femke, 400h. She could lose two seconds and still win.
FWIW, I think it would be harder for throwers to win without shoes than runners due to the more persistent technical component of throwing. Traction, flatness and heavier weight of shoe, etc.
400 hurdles is the last race to look at. Bol would lose a heck of a lot more than 2 seconds. The springy shoes add centimeters to every stride and enable her to use the 14 step stride pattern. Minus the shoes she would be taking at least 6 to 10 extra steps and probably more than that.
The problems would begin immediately. There's no way Bol could reach hurdle one in the same number of strides. I think it's 22 right now although I haven't checked recently. Regardless, It's probably 2 additional steps right there because she would want to open with her much stronger left lead. All the way around she'd be scrambling to use her left lead. Early she could likely use 15 but midway and beyond it's likely chop city and 17.
It would look like Britton Wilson in the NCAA final
