Running success is the furthest thing from a young man’s mind when he goes on a mission. He goes for faith or sometimes cultural pressure, but being better at sports his senior year never crosses his mind. Ever.
What does his cross his mind is he can’t have sex until he’s married, and he’s supposed to go on a mission before he gets married, so he goes on his mission at 18 or 19, not after graduation. Besides, taking a two year gap between graduation and a job search is nonsensical.
