If you really think the one at the very top neither is the best talent nor a doper, I don't know what to tell you.

He was already in world record shape without the shoes. He closed in 13:06 meaning he would’ve been near/under 26:11 in a better-paced race. Add super spikes to that and he’s way under 26. Not believable at all.

13:06 is slower than World Record pace. Most people put superspikes at 1-1.5 second per K at these paces. I’ll give you 15 seconds, which is high but whatever. That would put Kiplimo at 13:19/12:59 ~ 26:18 and Shelbo running 14:15 high. I can tell you which I think is more out there, and it’s Shelby.

I don’t believe Monson is doping for the same reason I don’t believe Shelby was doping when she ran her best times: they are both all-American nice girls from the wholesome Midwest.

If Monson is clean, then Shelby was clean. If Shelby was doping, then Monson must be doping to be able to run faster.

Here’s another reason to believe Monson (and by extension, Shelby) is clean: Monson just ran the race of her life, gave it everything she had, and smashed Shelby’s American record, yet she still got left in the dust by four runners. That wouldn’t be possible if Monson is doping. If she was doping, she would have been closer to the other runners who themselves are almost guaranteed to be doping.

The massive number of drug busts in Kenya the past couple of years prove that the only reason East African runners have been so dominant is they are doping. Genetic superiority is a myth. I believe the gap between Monson today and the runners ahead of her is a doping gap. Even with Monson chopping 4 seconds off the American record, it’s 14 seconds slower than the world record. 14 seconds! That’s a huge gap that can only be logically explained by doing. Therefore Monson is clean and so was Shelby.

I actually agree that Shelby is probably more talented than Monson, but there are plenty of reasons why Monson could've run faster that have nothing to do with doping:

-Monson had superspikes, Shelby didn't

-Monson essentially had the best possible pacemakers today, chasing a group of four women running right at 14:20 pace. Shelby had Schweizer for company in her 14:23 race but she still had to do a lot of the work herself.

-If Shelby didn't get banned, she likely would've lowered the record further in the past two years.

Neither you nor I have any idea if Monson is clean, and either way it isn't evidence for or against Shelby.

Come on guys. They are both doped to the gills. As are all the other runners running world records and all time marks.

-Houlihan ran in an empty Covid race

Monson focused on the 5000 in college. Shelby focused on the 800 and 1500. Shelby’s 15:49 came about 100 minutes after she raced in the 1500 final.
