You're right it doesn't make sense, and he didn't say that, maybe some JI fanboys did.
JI is taking this a step at a time, playing the long game, maybe even after 2024 Olympics.
After his 327 high in Oslo he looked delightfully shocked, usually he looks smugly satisfied. So i think he's well aware of how far away he is from 326.0. To get even sub 327 he knows he needs perfect: weather, pacers, fitness and tactics with few if any defensive surges as in the WC 1500. In the meantime, some other upstart may come onto the scene and really threaten him, though he's said before he wanted tougher competition. I'd like to see him attempt it before Oly 2024, but don't know if he values Gold over WR.
