Her name "showing up for the 800" is completely meaningless. Merely "showing up" isn't good enough. She needs a note from her mother and a notarized letter from Sebastian Coe, or she isn't allowed to "show up."
Words matter!
Bunch of rookies here I see, you morans don't think do you?
USATF would have to accept all the marks up to Mu's 4:16.06 or they would look ridiculous and obviously be playing favorites. You think Julia Heymach is going to be OK with getting denied and Mu getting in with a time 2 seconds slower than hers? How exactly do you see this working, they just let everyone run with times under 4:16.06 or they just bend the rules for Mu? WTF is wrong with you?
No rules need to be bent, because current world champions don't have the same rules as everyone else.
So no, USATF does NOT have to accept every other women in the 1500 who has times up to 4:16. That's not how it works. At all.

Ha ha ha ha. I hope that you are a troll, and not actually that stupid. Because those are the only two explanations as to why you would think that USATF would allow in every women up to 4:16, in order for Mu run the 1500.
Mu has a time of 4:16 and is allowed to run the 1500, because she is a current world champion. Other women who have a time of 4:16 don't get in, because they aren't a current world champion. That's how it works.

Stupid people never "get" context. This statement, when in context and read in it's entirety, clearly means that USATF WOULD NOT do this because they would look ridiculous and appear to be playing favorites.
Mu has run 4:16 in the 1500, and USATF is OK with her running the 1500 at USA's despite the relatively slow 1500 time, because she is the current world champion in the 800. All of your arguing to the contrary has absolutely no effect whatsoever on how USATF does things.
It's your opinion that "they would look ridiculous and appear to be playing favorites" but guess what? USATF doesn't give two sh!ts about your option.
USATF have their own set of rules, and current world champions get into races that aren't their main event, if that's what the current world champion wants to do. Deal with It!

If you want to have a debate on semantics, that's fine, but that's not what this is about. The OP stated that she is running the 1500 and posted a link. That link does not show that she is running the 1500. There is no debate about that. As for when one is actually entered, I submit that one may request entry, but are not entered until it has been accepted. Applying for, requesting or making known ones intent is not entry without acceptance. Still more steps before anyone can say she is running the1500. Words are not that hard bro, you're wrong, deal with it.
why would USATF put it on their website if she wasn't accepted? If I filled out the registration form with my 5:00 seed time, would they put my name on the list too?

Yes, your name would be on the list.
I have seen some VERY slow times entered in the USA Championships over the years. For a few days their names and times were actually listed in with everyone else, before being eventually denied entry.
So a women with a 4:16 could get listed for a while, and then not allowed to compete.
But Athing Mu is a current world champion, so different rules apply.
Current world champions are REQUIRED to compete at USA's. THAT's the difference. USATF just wants them to show up and do something. So they show up and do something.
I'm not sure why you aren't aware of this. It's not something new. This has been going on for years.
So since you are so smart, what do you think will happen? Athing Mu will be prohibited from running in the 1500 because of her 4:16 time?

She could just run round 1 of the 800 and call it a day instead of this nonsense. If 5ish more people enter with times faster than hers, no, she will not make the 1500 field. She gets no special privilege. You are wrong
Easy answer. Athing Mu will run a nice comfortable first round, not qualify for the next round, fulfill her USATF obligation, then go home and get ready for the 800 at Worlds.
And what is the point of this? Why go jog a 1500 when she can pretty much jog a 2:00 round 1 of the 800, get the win for show and call it a day. Everyone is so stuck on the 1500 thing they have blinders on. What is the purpose of going out and running a slow 1500 instead of a slow 800? The only reason to run the 1500 would be to actually run it and see where she is at, running it just to fulfill the obligation to compete makes absolutely no sense.
