Colorado is putting together a formidable team for next year. She and Cook can probably cross train together. And as a bonus she will have altitude and trails. All around a good move.

formidable if they're healthy. aren't they both injured?
the struggles I have dealt with during my time at NC State surmounted into a weight that I felt I could not escape the burden of, and there were too many associations in the environment that would prevent me from feeling like I could heal and return to genuinely feeling like myself again.
She doesn't mince words. She's burning the bridge down and never returning!
Reading the whole post, it kind of sounds like there is a lot of water under the bridge with the Wolfpack team and coaches. Seems like she has been unhappy there for a lot of the time. I really do hope this turns things around for her. It would be so cool to see her realize her full potential in college running.
sometimes it just doesn't work out with a coach. It happens. Natalie Cook left Oklahoma State after a year, Nevada Mareno left Stanford after a year. Sometimes you just gotta reset.
Hope she thrives at Colorado.
Mareno left Stanford after a quarter (10 weeks) and having red-shirted cross country, so never raced for the Cardinal. Who knows, but didn't speak all that well about her imo.
In her 3 years at NC State Marlee never suited up for a 6K XC race. She watched her team win 2 Nattys from the sidelines. Good luck to her and I hope she can stay healthy.

yeah, I saw that too. made me cringe. as far as I know NC State women's team doesn't have a history of transfers exiting the program. In fact, just opposite, seems like a destination. kinda contradicts what she's implying. hmmmm.
I wish her nothing but the best, she seems like a really nice person. She visited my daughters team (during her original visits before she committed to NCST) and was reportedly complaining the pace of the runs they all went on together were too slow and was assumed that's partly why she didn't choose the school, didn't think her training partners would run fast enough? (the school has great well known coaches and is top 10 rated school for xc) It was a small red flag to me as the point of a long run with a potential recruit i think is to chat get to know each other and see the surrounding areas of the town. Not hammer a workout. Anyways it hasn't surprised me that shes had some injuries considering her attitude about pacing?
Imagine your entire athletic character being judged on something a bunch of teenagers may or may not have heard.

The timing of Starliper’s announcement is kind of interesting, while her old team is at Nationals. Not sure what to make of that.
How is there already a pic of her racing in a buff uniform? Or is it just a photoshop?
Obviously, it is a photoshoot. She went out to Eugene, got a bunch of people to gather in Hayward, and took some photos in her new uniform. I think using her bib from 2022 NCAAs was a nice touch. She clearly used this photo as the inspiration for the shoot:
For males on visits, long runs turn into a d!ck measuring contest that ends up being sub 6:00 for most of the run (not fast at all, but still far faster than an easy run) lol. Two different people I know have told me that.

I've always liked her as a runner and thought that she has a lot of class but her statement comes off as a bit petulant and bitter. Good luck to her, though.

Claire Walters from the same recruiting class transferred out.
