The reason Nic gets his runners into races underdone is because he needs them to make $$$$ so he gets a paycheque.

There's a philosophy in MTC that you race yourself fit.

Their training revolves around consistently working the right energy systems but it rarely includes monster workouts, and so they use races to refine their fitness.

have the people who say this stuff about Nic ever met him or been about MTC or are they just reiterating what other anonymous people have said on the internet

There’s plenty of other races that Stewy can tune up and run 1320 and Rayner 750 without the spotlight. Combine this with stewy’s DNF in Doha after 2 laps and Ramsden’s DFL seems like NB doesn’t have respect for the DL and other race directors should take note.

NB overraces his athletes all the time. Not unusual for him whatsoever. Stewy was racing over and over again when he was struggling with his breathing post-COVID.

He needs to keep good relations with the Diamond League so he can keep getting his borderline athletes spots on the starting line.

That Florence 13:20 in 2021 was a pacing job to try get Matt Ramsden an Olympic qualifier for Tokyo Olympics. Ole mate couldn't hold on so he just finished the race in 13:20.

Not sure any of the MTC are running particularly well. Jude Thomas, Ramsden, Stewy, and Rayner seem to be off.

Good to see young Cam Myers win close to $10,000 ie with gold nugget on the weekend.

Interesting times in Australian distance running at the moment.

Add in Sinead Diver injured and had to pull out of London Marathon. Tough times down under.

Cam Myers isn’t MTC - he trains and races as part of Team Telford.

But as others have noted - NB flogs his athletes until they’re cooked. Stewy raced more than just about anyone else on the circuit a few years ago.

Ramsden is just about always DFL though. So no idea how he keeps getting starts.

And yes I have met him/his athletes. And yes his reputation is accurate.

What is even the plan with Rayner?

Talented for a domestic athlete but has no event on the track. Australian record holder in the 10k but would get lapped in a competitive race on the track. Currently not even fit enough to be a half decent pacer.

Calf issue was reported in the Aussie press. Didn’t race the Aussie champs which is unusual. Then seemingly has raced underdone from Doha.

Surely DL organisers are gonna have to stop giving MTC athletes spots if they're completely cooked and underperforming? Why not put your athletes in second tier races so they don't get completely smashed if they're trying to race themselves into fitness.

Crazy how many MTC athletes were rabbits aT Oslo. Nb at his best.

Called it. Lost by nearly a minute at Oslo Diamond League 5000m.

I don't mind this as much as the pacers are athletes who he can't get starts for in DLs. Such as Callum Davies, Sarah Billings and Ellie Sanford (Excluding Paul Robinson who was not even fit enough for his pacing gig the other meet).

Most of these athletes are racing on the second tier European circuit and pacing DLs to pay rent.

However, Rayner, Ramsden and McSweyn should be nowhere near a DL start list if they're underdone or completely cooked. No one wants to see them 58 seconds behind the leaders in DFL and it ruins their personal brand/reputation. Embarrassing
