part IV, sorry - I feel like I'm not giving people the full story re: hinsdale central (& their greatness) b/c I've learned more.

Dan Watcke, Oregon-bound senior, repeat state champ in the 800mThey most likely would've earned more medals had there not been interference in the prelim of their 4x400m relay, quite frankly I think it's egregious that interference was not called in the exchange zone when the blue runner darted in front of traffic, causing Hinsdale Central to fall and drop the baton.
It's my understanding that this 4x4 team was ranked #1 in the state, too.

Colorado had it's state meet a week ago and we had at least two performances worth mentioning here:
It's already been mentioned a couple of times already, Tayvon Underwood of Mead High School almost pulled off the quadruple (100,200,400,800) in Colorado's second largest classification (4A), after 7 races in 3 days here's how he ended up:
100: 10.67 (2nd)
200: 20.93 (1st)
400: 45.36 (1st, #1 time nationally)
800: 1:51.97 (1st)
Emma Stutzman of Pomona High School ran 4:39.94 for the girls 1600 in 5A, which is currently sitting 3rd nationally, and she ran that time at 5,551 feet above sea level!

That is the most extraordinary range I have seen in 51 years in the sport. Is he running any post season meets?

Didn't Obea Moore have that kind of range? I mean, to try all 4 in one meet is pretty legendary, no doubt. But range-wise, I think there may be some others who have been national class from 100 to 800.

i’m gonna be honest, not really. definitely not on the guys side, but there have been 1-2 girls to accomplish something similar.

Wilson Schmidt of Belgrade high school in Montana won the 800m state title as a FRESHMAN. He ran 1:51 to finish ahead of Weston Brown. Brown came back later and won the 1600 by 5 seconds in 4:10.

200 m: 20.77 (Norwalk 1996)

Shawnti Jackson was even better (imo) also taking home 4 titles at the public school 2A level, winning the 100 (11.33), 200 (22.70), 400 (53.02) and anchoring the 4x200 team to a win in 1:40.41

Why don’t you tell us the times of this last-to-first guy?
Also, Oregon’s MBP is straight-up real and, imho, NFHS marks carry the most weight.

Moore was a phenom, but Underwood ran all his times in the same meet. Incredible.

I already linked it on the first thread if you were paying attention. Long sigh, I will link them all again.
ALL STATE RESULTS, 1A, 2A, 3A here Hinsdale Central competes in the largest school division, which is 3A, and these were the finals.
1600m final, class 3A4 x 800m final, class 3A800m final, class 3A3200m final, class 3A4 x 400m prelim 3A (race with the interference, which wasn't called, so the splits aren't accurate of their speed, since they had the collision) you can see Dan Watcke ran 47.7 to try to make up ground.10 -
In Alabama, Vestavia Hills has been tearing it up. At the state meet:
Alex Leath (12) - Won the 800/1600 in 1:55/4:07, and earlier in the season ran PRs of 48.99/1:50 in the 4/8.
Henry Strand (11) - 1:57/4:11 in the 8/16, and anchored the 4x8 to a win. His older brother won the ACC 1500 this year in 3:38 with a 53.3 last lap, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was top 5 in the country next year.
Mitchell Schaff (10) - 4:13 and ran on the 4x8. 4:13 as a soph is crazy, and somehow not even the fastest soph the school has had in the last 4 years.
I have no clue what they're doing over there, but Ethan Strand ran 1:52/4:07/8:59 in the 8/M/2M there, and looks really good going into NCAAs as a sophomore now. Leath has significantly better speed, and having 2 non-seniors under 4:15 past him is crazy.
