45.06 is worth just a bit better than 46.0, running start gives you maybe .6-.7? Most think..I looked it up lol. I would have thought .5, plus there is no way you cannot be slightly off the gas last 5-10M even though it does look like he is all out.
Obea Moore split 45.08 at Penn in HS , and ran 45.14 scratch at 16.
Dats deh one! Dats deh one! Everytime a black man bring up Quincy Wilson running a 45:06 as a freshman a white man gotta bring up Matt Boling...Matt Boling good but compared to Quincy Wilson, Matt Boling ain't sh**....who next?
Bullis' Quincy Wilson was the only freshman in the 400m final at New Balance Nationals and found a way to win his first national title at just 15 years old a...
He is insanely good for his age and looks to rewrite the record books by class one by one.
Agree.
The only negative comment I have is I worry about how he carries the baton. We saw two batons knocked out of hands during the SEC and ACC Indoor Championships, both costing the team the race (and in Duke's case, the meet). He seems to swing his arm wide and this can be inviting trouble in a close race.
Quincy does not look smoove, but he's full of run. A coach should clean up the baton holding, should they mess with his overall form, or just leave it be?
Reminds me of Cole Hocker' wild sprint finishes, i don't know if it's due to their bow legs or what, but it looks like their foot strike crosses over the body's centerline, which results in arms and shoulders swing crazily to counter balance. A sharp contrast to Centro's clean running lines.

I think you mean he’s insanely good for any age.
No. I don't mean that. He is already fast enough to hold his own at high D1 programs, probably low 46 or high 45, which puts him in maybe the top 100-200 in the country already. But what makes his performances absolutely special is that he is only 15, one of the best ever at his age. Christopher Taylor has the age 15 record at 45.27. He turned 16 that year, so it wouldn't count for the U16 category. Kirani James has the age 14 record of 46.96 the year he turned 15.

What’s the fastest 400m split in HS history? The official record from blocks is like 45.19 I think, although a guy from the 80s ran 44 mid in a pro meet. Already one of the fastest highschoolers ever
44.5 by Henry Thomas in the 3:07.4 national record. Texas has several "claims" of faster splits but none are times that can actually be checked (no quality video, instead relying on "fans" to decide when to start and stop a watch.)
Times like this should be considered on age, rather than grade. That prevents students held back a year from setting class records. It is good to see that this kid is a legit age for his class.

Justin Robinson split 43.8 a few years back in 2019, I think he was a HS Jr. then.
Might be the 2020 U20 relay (vid link below). That wouldn't be HS only, but likely the best time with a video of a split by a high school runner.
