To set a record, it must be on a record eligible course.
I agree. That's me. But most of you probably don't. Anyone who counts either Rodgers 2:09:55 or 2:09:27 does not think this. I suspect it's all who does it. Rodgers, OK. Rupp, it would be OK (if of course he could get 6 or 7 minutes off his Boston best). If Lagat did something meaningful on that course many of you would be screaming about Masters AR. No one has a beef with Meb's PR. Or a guy like Meyer. Not recognizing the Halls is because they don't like the Halls. Religious. Not Nike-shod. Adopted Ethiopians. Various other issues.
I completely forgot she ran this. Disappointing day at the office? Father Time catching up with her?
I guess boasting the master’s record is what she had to do bc she otherwise finished 17th.
Wow! Could you state your name so we can take a look at your personal bests? 17th at Boston as a year a 40 year old is bad? I think 2:25 is faster than your PR?
They counted The Boston Marathon in all the Statistical Sites All Time Athletics, Tilastopaja, IAAF etc UNTIL That windy Day in Boston (I think it was 2011) had the super fast times including Ryan Hall's 2:04.58 for 5th or 6th place Tilastopaja just stopped counting Boston 2-3 Years ago, Until then most considered Boston Slower Than London, Berlin ETC. Boston is basically where just about All The American Elite Marathoners Run, So not counting Boston is unfair to top American Marathoners, I still Count Boston, and IAAF/WorldAthletics has a Regular only courses and that does not have Boston Results And All That does include Boston.
So yes S. Hall has the Anerican over 40 Record overall, just not on A Regular course. I count it
What's The Deal with All the Capital Letters???? that's Really Weird and you Have To Put In A Lot Of Effort to Do It. Do you have A Malfunctioning Shift Key or Something? asking For A Friend.
To be considered a record Must meet all the criteria for it and we all know Boston is a point to point and drops in elevation significantly so No Record that simple. Her husband PR is 2:06 something he was a mediocre marathoner never really played a roll in any big race he was just a good marathoner for American standards.

The sport has moved on from the 70s when Rodgers was running and people realize how much of an aided course Boston can Be. And you are delusional if you think people liked Rupp or Lagat more than Hall. His London runs were epic.
But accepting aided performance like this as best doesn't help anyone. How many woman have missed out on setting an WR/AR in the 100 cause of those aided times?
Boston isn't record eligible for good reason, and yet it's almost surely harder than record eligible courses except perhaps for days with STRONG tailwinds. That was not the case this year.
Jeannie Rice, 3:33:15, has now run the course faster than any Male in her age-group, 75-79. For Sara Hall or any other woman to do this at 40-44, they would have to beat 2:11:04. Rice ran Tokyo six weeks before Boston in 3:31:22. Quite remarkable performances.
The course is not record eligible but Sara Hall claims she set an American masters record. Same schtick with Ryan Hall claiming “fastest American marathoner”. You think god is okay with this?
I'm coming to this party late. If Sara Hall is claiming an American master's marathon record for a performance in the Boston marathon, I think it's probably fair to describe the claim as a lie, since she almost certainly knows it's false. If Ryan is claiming the title of "fastest American marathoner," I think it's fair to say he's at least prevaricating and misleading those who may not know better, especially in light of Khalid Khannouchi's vastly superior world and American record and T&FN "performance of the year" in 2002 against the two greatest distance runners of their era. I am curious, however, if you can provide links to these two claims. (I don't particularly doubt your assertions, but I'd like to see the statements and context with my own eyes, since they would cause me to significantly adjust my views of the Halls, who have seemed like decent people to me.)
Depends. When there is not a 25 mph tailwind (which Hall had) it is a legit course that is on the slow side. Unfortunately, you can't install variables to count it for records. Regardless, any time done on a point to point with a headwind draws respect as legit. Hope to see Hall on a fast course this fall.
