It was worse than a tweak. That is what she originally thought. Sadly it turned out to be a stress facture so she will be on the shelf a little longer than she expected.
Well here's a good sign: I just saw her on a training run in Flagstaff like an hour ago.
Wow. I'm very surprised because the other day she posted on Instragram that it turned out to be a stress facture along with a photo of her in crutches! Very good news but a bit bewildering.

Emily had gotten extremely skinny in the past couple of years. Do not remember her being this thin as recently as the last trials. This raises red flags for me along with the injury.

Eh, it's not uncommon for people to lean out doing year after year of high mileage and especially with the marathon, and hormonally, your women's bodies can tolerate it much better in your 30s than in your 20s. I think it's a better sign of longevity that her body looks like this at age 32 and that she did not force it in college or her early pro years.
She's had her fair share of injuries--for example she had an injury at the olympics that took a while to come back from, but it seems like more normal ups and downs.
