She will continue to improve as a pro just like they did.

A guy I know, drafted out of hs by m.l.b. The highest level he climbed to, AA ball; another guy I know, four years of college, progressed quickly through minor league ball after college, about eight seasons in the Big League.

Maybe she’s arranged to finish her degree remotely? She may have realized the need to go pro while the iron is hot and get altitude training in to make the world team and properly prep for Paris24. We’ll learn soon enough what’s going on…

I did say I would be disappointed if she turned pro so soon. I wish she would give it another semester to achieve a couple of more milestones like sub 15, 5K, but the decision has so many factors that I’m not privy to. Let’s hope it isn’t an injury so she can resume her training without restraints.

Challenge will be getting a Budapest '23 qualifier 4:03.50 / 14:57, as the usatf 5000 tends to be jogfest with hard close. It's unlikely she makes the team, but she definitely won't make without the standard.

Based on Monson's career, I would 100% support Tuohy going professional now as she is much more promising talent and would secure her to be the next in line of great American distance runners.
