3/4 of the seats were not available for sale today. Why is that?
This thread was started before they went on sale and entitled, "Prefontaine Classic/Diamond League Final tickets—who and how?" Apparently, right now, they are only selling tickets for both sessions and those are almost sold out as they are only the best seats near the finish line and many of them go to VIPs. Check out what's available here. Most of the stadium hasn't gone on sell yet as explained here. It's pretty damn confusing so maybe call the Oregon ticket office: 541-346-4461.

I just spoke with the Oregon Ticket Office since I had lots of problems buying tickets. The only tickets they are selling today are the ALL Session tickets which means both days. There are not many of those so that is the reason for the problems. Once the all session tickets are gone (I ended up buying two tickets for both days at $300 total) then they will release the rest of the individual tickets which is the rest of the stadium. I have purchased tickets for the World Championships, and other track meets at Oregon and it is the most complicated place to purchase a ticket. You'd think they would make it super easy. Good luck to all of you that want tickets. Also, the hotels nearest to the track are sold out already (Hayward Inn, New Oregonian, etc). The others have jacked up the price as the Hampton Inn is $350 per night.

Thanks for the info. I’m holding off on buying then. For the crowded events I’ve been getting a hotel in Salem. It’s not ideal but it’s not awful and it’s way way cheaper than Eugene.

@CCB How did you buy two tickets already. They aren’t on sale until 11am pacific time.
I think I must be on some special mailing list because I buy tickets to so many meets. There was a special link sent in an email that enabled me to buy tickets yesterday.
They also had a presale a week ago, so lots were sold then as well. You had to be on their list and attended previous events there to get in on that. All the best seats were available when those went on sale. All session only. That's how I got the finish line tickets for $295 each. Damn fine seats, but spendy. Well worth it.
$150 plus fees.
Thank you very much.
Not sure why, for 1/2 the price, folks aren't doing U.S. Nat'l Championships instead of Pre? It's a World Champs year (again!) which raises the stakes and almost makes it an Oly Trials. Plus we get U20 action all weekend as well.
I just went to the ticket website and saw 1 ticket - for wheelchairs - left in the whole stadium. So it's sold out? Or just sold out for 2-session tickets?

Ok I figured it out. Most of the stadium hasn't gone on sell yet as shown here: https://www.preclassic.com/tickets It's pretty damn confusing so maybe call the Oregon ticket office: 541-346-4461.
Does anyone know why the Pre Meet is held in the daytime as opposed to night like most Diamond League meets? The stadium does have lights so it's not a matter of lack of lighting.

They had a special presale for long time fans, etc. 2 weeks ago. They sold a lot already but if you haven't heard, you might sh*t the bed when you see the prices when they go on sale tomorrow. But remember, this is the DL final, not just your average PRE meet, which is always special, but this one is on another level and you will need to pay to play!
Yeah suckers, got our tickets for Pre and USAs two weeks ago by being a frequent customer. Do not mind paying a little extra to be beneath the roofing in order to avoid sunburns & tan lines that lasted until December. Not happy after seeing the schedule for USAs mixing seniors with u20 though.
Saw four WRs last year and Jon Gault and WeJo. Kept the clear backpack and saving my pennies for concessions. Support meets at Hatward.

I wonder why we are all so reluctant to pay "real money" for track? It is a weird disconnect because I don't think we are all cheap when it comes to concert tickets or Hamilton tickets or whatever.
I would pay $80 to watch certain bands/singers, ballet dancers, Broadway actors, etc. but $80 for a seat at a track meet seems insane. Or is it just me?
I have always felt that you're better off selling more tickets at a cheaper price than a few at a higher price.
I think the American Track League should give away tickets to kids and their parents- just fill stadium.
Make Prefontaine affordable for a family or some friends on a track/cross-country team to go.

Nah, not unless you're really old, slow and fat. I heartily recommend hitting at least one of these 2 events if able.
