Time of 3:35.59. Not sure who that was, sounded like the announcer said Kipkemboi right near the end of the video but not sure if he was referring to the winner. Benjamin Kigen finished way back after challenging Keter in the semi-final
Adding some intrigue is Elijah Manangoi jogging a semi in 3:44 FTW but not contesting the final if looks like. The winner of the heat was 3rd in that fast semi where Kigen and Keter battled.

I don't know who that is. The announcer only seemed to know Keter in that entire field so I wouldn't pay too much attention to what he says. Judging from his kit, probably a new private guy waiting for his first passport.

His name is Brian Komen. Doesn't even have a WA profile.

Ok thank you for the update, were the results posted anywhere?
I noticed his kit was for Complete Sports (he had a teammate in the field as well) which is a charitable training ground in Kaptagat that has had some big successes for alumni like Emmanuel Korir and Eliud Kipsang. I wonder if he is considering the NCAA route though this performance would likely earn him a contract right now if he so desires. Kelvin Kimutai the 800 winner (1:45.1) and now dark horse for the Kenyan squad also is an athlete training there. Between this athlete Brian Komen and the 5,000 winner Vincent Lagat, this AK meeting unearthed some guys to watch. Of note in Doha besides Tim Cheruiyot will be Ishmael Kipkirui and Kyumbe Munguti in their first DL races, and Kinyamal (1:46/45r SB) and Noah Kibet (1:44.98i/3:36) in the 800.
Reynold “All Business” Cheruiyot declines to smile after another victory. Apparently the time was 3:33.65 a PB. Hopefully he peaks properly. I’m going to make a new thread.
Raynold Cheriuyot (1544) wins gold in men’s U-20 1500m final while compatriot Gilbert Rono (1550) took home silver at the ongoing CAA U-18/20 Championships in Zambia. #TeamKenyapic.twitter.com/mCmHCGodMp
I did not notice at the time but Kipkirui ran 13:27.34 (just off his PB) to finish 2nd at Kip Keino to Tadesse Lemi who ran 13:26.58 (3:31.9 PB at 1500). Most importantly maybe is that Kipkirui's World Rank is now inside the top 40, so if he finishes top 3 at Kenyan Trials, he would likely get in even without the standard.
Kipkurui with a nice 13:05.67 win (WC standard) in Italy today over Ali Abdilmana (13:15) and Joseph Kimutai (13:16).
Now with the standard and this win his chances to make the team go up I'd say. I feel a lot depends on who races this distance for Kenya, like Daniel Simiu, Benson Kiplangat, Emmanual Kiplagat, Richard Etir and other who might race the 10000 or not be there
Very impressive…wonder how much of that he led. Yeah, he’s a real contender because I wonder if Simiyu Ebenyo will opt for the 10,000 alongside Kandie and Sawe. That would put Krop as the only slam-dunk type guy in the 5,000 with a bunch of guys in the 12:55-13:05 level of fitness contending.

Yeah I think he led alone from about a mile out. Yeah its interesting for sure, not sure how many of the Japanese-based guys will come over and what distance they'll race but looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
Meet video here with men's 5000 starting about 1:52:20 in but they didn't show much of it:
Thanks for the video. I watch all the Italian meets but forgot about Lucca because of the FBK games. Good omens for Ishmael's chances.
Solid performance for Kipkirui to finish best of the rest tonight. Time (8:09.23) is solid (superior to 7:38/13:05), but the manner in which it was run was the hard way: 3:59.7 1600, and then survival until a sub-58 pace last 418 meters per the splits to go from 4th to second. Him and Reynold Cheruiyot are delivering on all the promise from WXC.
Yeah I liked the article. Seems pretty similar to Samuel Kibathi Wanjiru (both Feb. 2005/ 18y/o) as far as a very promising young athlete with a chance of making the team albeit I think the chances aren't particularly high but who knows.
I kind of view the likeliness of making the team like this right now:
1. Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli
2. Jacob Krop
3. Daniel Simiu
4. Cornelius Kemboi
5. Emmanuel Kiprop
6. Levy Kibet
7. Edward Zakayo
8. Ismael Kipkurui
9. Michael Temoi
10. Samuel Kibathi
Kibathi recently won over Kemboi in Nairobi in 13:36, just outside his PB.
I'm kind of thinking guys like Benson Kiplangat, Emmanuel Kiplagat, Benard Koech, Samwel Masai might try for 10000m at the trials. epoxy flooring brisbane It's great to hear about your interest in Kenyan athletes and their performances. Kenyan athletes have a strong presence in the world of distance running, and they have achieved remarkable success in various competitions. Based on the information you provided, it seems like the athlete you are referring to is dedicated to his training and has a passion for track events. His commitment to running is evident from his desire to jump into races even after watching a meet. Regarding the upcoming 5,000-meter race, it's difficult to predict who will secure the remaining two spots as it depends on the performances and selections made by the Kenyan athletics federation. Jacob Krop appears to be a strong contender based on his recent performances, but ultimately the final decision will be made by the selectors. It's always exciting to follow the journey of athletes and witness their achievements. I hope you continue to enjoy watching and supporting them in their endeavors.

Chat GPT? Will note Cornelius Kemboi looked more like himself recently. Ran 13:14 in a not-fast race but finished very strongly.
