I was a college coach for many years and coached several women who ran 2:02. Bol would run 1:57 tomorrow and would challenge Mu if she trained for the event. She is a middle distance runner, not a sprinter.

17 year old Roisin Willis ran 1:59. What makes you think that Bol wouldn't absolutely demolish her?
Willis is an 800 runner. Bol is a 400 runner. That makes a big difference. You can't just move up or down in events and automatically be great at that event too.
That's like saying Keely Hodgkinson is great at the 800 so she should move down to the 400 and she would be great. No, she wouldn't. The 400 and the 800 are very different events. Outside of Athing Mu it's very rare for someone to be great at both.
Shamier Little ran 49 seconds in the 400 and then tried an 800 and she only ran something like 2:03 or 2:04.
Runners aren't limited to one event. Every top runner has some amount of range. There isn't an 800 runner who isn't either good at 400 or 1500. Willis is 400-800. Bol is better at the 400 than her so she will be better at the 800. Mu is 400-800. Muir is 800-1500.
It's more clear in the men's fields but it's basically true for the women as well: The 800m is the least predictable event with the highest probability of a reigning champ or high ranked (in the season) athlete to miss the final. So it would be a fool's move to exchange 400/400h + relay for the 800m.

And Bol is 400 & 400h
What is it that all of you don’t understand? First of all to want to run the 800 she has to want to run the 800. She doesn’t want to run the 800. Watch the interview in this thread. As was already mentioned in this thread, any of the top 800 runners would easily beat her in 800. Bol working 800 preparation into her training is not going to benefit her in the 400 or 400h. She’s among the best at those events. Why tinker with success?
Those are the same distance. That logic says that Evan Jager is a 3000 indoor runner and 3000 steeplechase outdoor. That is silly. the 2nd best runner in the world in a particular distance doesn't become bad by moving up or down one distance. One or the other, they will be elite at. This is a discussion. We know that she doesn't want to do it. Do you watch any sports besides Running? Millions of fans will 2nd guess decisions made by coaches and athletes.
I hope so - She'd have nearly 18 seconds to run the final 100m!
Bol's 500 mark and Hodginson's 600 mark are fairly close in quality according to World Athletics. Bol's 500 garners 1234 points and Hodginson's 600 gets her 1215 points.
Do you believe that Bol would cover the first 500 of a 600 in nearly the same time as she did when she posted her 1:05.63 this past weekend? That is what your statment would suggest.
No. That is the way people express it. If somebody runs a 1500 in 3:40 and has a current PR in the 1600 of 4:00, people will say that he can easily beat his 1600 time because he has 20 seconds to play with.

We have enough Youth, What we need is a Fountain of Smart.
Where do you nuts come up with these wacky predictions?
These are same people that thought Jeremy Wariner should "easily" be able to put two 50-second laps together, back-to-back, since his 400 speed was so good. Laughable. :-)
This is not the first ill-advised “x should move up to the 800m!” thread and it won’t be the last.
X should move up in distance, with little or no supporting data, any distance, is one of the most tiresome sorts of discussions. Let Femke first run an 800 off her current training, and run 2 minutes….

That's a 1.5% difference - quite a lot in elite sport.
