These athletes are aware doping is rampant at the top so they look to at least equal the playing field by going dirty. Take the tour de France, where everyone doped. Once you're good enough to be near the top and realize you're losing to explicitly dopers, then it's either quit the sport or join them. Then it becomes morally "justified" psychologically to do that one thing you thought you would never even consider towards something you've dedicated your whole life towards. Your entire team of fellow professionals is also aware and doing the same and it's a secret within the inner annals of the sport because it would appear unscrupulous to the public eye which has a raw mentality and limited understanding.
BTC connections are always susepct, why? Because one athlete was popped in 15 years?
Moving on, I will admit I am disturbed by the fact that I had the same thought, though.
I've always said I'd bet my life that the BTC is a clean group. But I'm not a moron, as a fan, you pretty much have to have a sliver of doubt about all performances that aren't your own or you aren't thinking logically.
Anyway, 1% of me thought when I was listening to that video and he mentioned how ON wasn't that interested, "Sounds like his contract was up or may be up for renewal. Is there a chance he went to the darkside for a few months to pop a good one and get a new deal?"
Not it's SICK that my brain contemplated that for even a sliver of a second but I must admit someone planted that idea with me for Ritzenhein 10 years ago when he seemignly popped a 2:07 out of nowhere in 2012.
They said to me, "You're a 30-year old who is no longer super relevant on the track who has run never broken 2:10 in the marathon in six tries and you just finished 4th in the marathon Trials. You have children to support. Your contract is expiring. You need a result. Are you telling me you wouldn't let Alberto massage you with a little androgel and just not ask questions?"
I can't remember who planted that evil thought in my head. If you recognize it, email me as you've made me a bit more of a cynic than I already naturally am.
Rojo you cannot be serious! You really don’t get how ubiquitous doping is at the highest levels of track and field and distance running in general? You think Kenyans are especially corrupt and not that talented? I ask this because they are incredibly talented and hardworking and many are doping. Having suspicion that top athletes are doping is not evil, it is a sign of intelligence. Maybe this helps explain your reaction to Shelby. For many of us it was more like “I am shocked shocked to find there is gambling going on in here.”
Just ask them yourself. Straight up ask them about whatever is on your mind. If you're really so worldly wise as you pretend, you will be able to read theirbody language.

Steve, yer naïve. This "level playing field" crap is just silly. It's not science, it's quackery.
Do you know what a quack is Steve the addict? He's the guy you score yer dope from.
Track seems to be the one sport where if someone does something great, that person is immediately labeled a cheater. I understand why there is skepticism. But I guess track and field will always be a tiny little niche sport when the results are given the same legitimacy as professional wrestling.
One thing that I didn't like about Woody was that he was quite vocal in defense of Shelby. He wasn't the only BTC member who did that, but I don't think that's a good look. Perhaps he was naive about Shelby, but it did make me wonder if he was in on it.
So Mo Ahmed (who is 1 year older than Woody) hit 12:47 5K at 29 and his 26:34 10K at 31... Lopez Lomong hit 12:58 at 35, but...Woody hitting 12:51 at 30 is sus?
It takes me back to Olympics close to 1 1/2 year ago. Immediately after K Warholm set a fantastic w.r., 400mH, some or many on this site were saying K Warholm had a 42.xx 400m in him. I recall responding: He better not. If K Warholm were to sprint sub-43 400m, he would have his life turned upside down.
Even if Woody K is capable of sub-12:40 outdoors, he better not.
Kincaid is why I believe Cheptegei clean. I've seen them both run in person. Cheptegei is majestic. Kincaid shuffles. Chep is like a thoroughbred and Kincaid just rough.

there are given the same legitimacy as wrestling because the track record is horrible.
9/10 of the top 10 fastest 100meter times are from dopers
countless others caught (including high profile americans like tim montgomery, marion jones, gatlin, shelby etc etc)
A bunch of records broken in the 90s/ early 2000s during the EPO era
current dominance in the distance and sprint events from third world countries with corruption index scores in the bottom third amongst all nations

what?
did you ever see flojo run. it was poetry in motion (srs).
shes like the dirtiest runner of ALL TIME. basically a chemical experiement
If anyone thinks Shelby was the only one doping on BTC, they are nuts. Do you believe for example that her training partners Schweizer and Cranny were clean? I can distinctly recall Schweizer running step for step in that time trial with her and breaking 14:30. And I recall Schumacher making a fool of himself, pretending he had never heard of nandrolone, and attacking the anti-doping system on behalf of Burrito-gate.

Yes, what I'm saying is that there is no way in the world of human talent that Kincaid is the fastest of all-time. Chetegei clean is a good 20 seconds faster than Kincaid on pure form and talent.

And then after barely breaking 2:08, you stop doping? Seems more like that a 27:22 guy finally has everything lines up and runs a marathon just a bit worse than his 10k/hm runs. And then of course nothing lines up again.
Seriously make the list of guys with 60m HM PRs and look at their marathons. Not many of them aren't running 2:08s.. I have a feeling Ritz would have been a super shoes poster guy. Ignoring the efficiency gains, just not cramping up ever race would have made him 2 mins faster.
Now none of that means he wasn't doping earlier. But if he started at 30, it sure didn't help much....
There. I don't. Woody Kincaid does not get the benefit of the doubt from me. Not after his fierce defense of Shelby, a clear doper, that he never retracted. This out of the world performance smells fishy, and especially the way Rojo put it--I do not believe that it is clean.

Oh definitely. It casts doubt on the whole group but certainly miss 14:26 from humble Iowa beginnings Karissa.
BTW that was in 2020--what was her fastest time after Shelby popped? 14:55? Okay.

Its unfortunate the sport got to this point, but the dirty athletes and the media who enables them is to blame there.
Don't blame the fans when (white American) athletes test positive and no one in media holds them accountable.
Woody is the most suspicious American male distance runner in history. This guy never achieved anything of note in high school or college, and now he’s run the 5K faster than Kennedy, Rupp, Ritz, Solinsky and Lagat??? What a joke.
