Different book. This was when he was young and training for the mile - specifically the race in Florida against Walton. In his comeback years later, he didn't do much of that kind of thing, although there is mention of some mile repeats. It's mostly moderate trail mileage in the forest.
@rojo I hope you see this. I listen to the podcast each week and heard the commentary on Jenny Simpson to the Marathon.
I think what needed to be said is Jenny Simpson is going the difficult route to the marathon. She is doing what Again to Carthage portrayed Quentin Cassidy doing. She was out of it for a bit and now moving way up. I think since she is a strength based runner she has a better shot of running 2:26 than we give her credit for. She is one of the BEST runners ever in US history.

If she wants it and can afford it, why not? I'd love to have space for my own gym with treadmill. Have a playroom for my kids (although they don't have kids), my own office, etc. I think 1200 SQ per person living in the house is about right.
J B S is not a strength based runner as you state. J B S is a Classic 1500m one miler. J B S is best at 1500m & one mile. She is slightly worse at 800m and slightly worse at 5000m relative to her peers. M Farah would fit your definition of a strength based 1500m runner. M Farah's 1500m was his best event by time but M Farah as a guy incapable of sub-49 f.a.t. 400m needed to race longer events.
We already have some sort of idea. She ran 52:16 to finish right behind Nell Rojas at the 2021 Cherry Blossom 10-mile 14 months ago. Equivalent to a 1:09:41/2:25:57 according to VDOT.

I dont think GOKP said "same thing" I think he/she specifically said "some sort of idea". 10Miles is way farther than 1500. Its a good sign. Milers dominate the marathon all the time now. Its not some magical distance.
