And to ring in the New Year, Strava hiked their monthly subscription prices by more than 25%. Where are all the left wingers that are attacking Elon Musk for cutting costs and raising revenue at Twitter?
1. You can change the colouration of your map to support any number of left wing causes in the "map type" bar.
2. They will often have notifications, such as "John Smith reached their weekly mileage goal".
3. In the gender settings, it has a field for "non-binary" and "prefer not to say". It's also worth noting that it records a person's gender, as opposed to their sex, which is odd, as sex would obviously be the greater distinguishing feature on an exercise app. It also refers to a person as a "man" rather than a "male" - which must be strange for underage users.
4. I distinctly remember an editorial that was sent out via email (by Strava) after the summer of 2020, in which a list of ways Strava was assisting BLM was outlined.
The first 3 are not woke and the 4thbrequites first proof then context.
BLM as an organization isn't inherently bad even if bad things are done in their name.

Wow. This is one of the strangest lists of grievances I've ever seen. This is what gets people upset?

I am with you. If this is something you are upset about I would say you are leading a pretty great life.
I looked up and found a site that says Strava has 508 employees. What do they all do?
.
Looks like product designers and product managers were the brunt. So maybe they just were not needed any more. If so, then the company has a responsibility to shareholders not to have them on the payroll.
People are losing jobs across the tech industry. I don't believe it has to be with "woke" - more than they grew too fast for a while. And not enough paid members...just like letsrun.
Strava is lame. Ruining running. Plus woke? Crap app. Good that it is losing users. Boo strava.
I like strava. Never seen any of the political stuff on the website.
Where do the freaks on here unearth all this political stuff? I literally log in and share runs with my friends.
It is an observable fact that Strava and other apps/online services use blogs and other forms of content marketing, and at times they have utilized progressive themes in their marketing. It's an effective form of marketing with some people, and ineffective with others. Someone in marketing undoubtedly determined that progressive themes played better with Strava's desired expansion demographic than conservative themes. If you don't care for it, it's usually worth no more than an eye roll.
For the life of me, cannot figure out why Strava does not have advertisements in the feed. They must generate so much data that would be useful for targeted ads from the shoe/apparel companies. Tbh, I’d much rather see targeted ads for running gear/shoes/clothes on Strava than any of the crap I get shown on Instagram or Twitter.
Musk canned 80% of the people at twitter and it is still running so I'm wondering if Strava could have cut even more.
Musk was just the first to acknowlege, and do something about, the extreme bloat of tech employees that contribute zero, or less, to the bottom line. Twitter is now right-sized. The rest of the formerly high-flying tech companies are following along now.
yes because the amount that I care about being sh*t canned is inversely proportional to the number of days until Christmas. Whoops! it's march and i got fired! guess i don't care that much!!

I've now been through two tech/tech-adjacent rounds of layoffs in my career as a designer and product guy. It seems that sales people are the first to go in these situations. And then if needed, lower tier design, PM, and development people. The idea being that you can have your team frontload tons of designs, features, and plans, then let the less experienced members go, and the surviving team can plug away at a big stack of plans for a year or so until the winds blow another way.
