The difference is she gets to stay in college and she's probably expected to do a bit more of the social media stuff that you mention. But it seems more like a placeholder deal with adidas to ensure she does sign with them when she goes pro.

Yep. Whether we like it or not there is a pecking order in US distance running. But I think Katelyn is smart enough to figure this out. OAC would be a nice fit.

OAC runners are impressed by Katelyn and they said they love her, surely the Coach also reached out to her because she followed him back. They know what she's capable of! And who wouldn't want Katelyn Tuohy on their team!

This is basically making her the brand's Ambassador, by this deal they can use her image for adidas promotions and commercials etc. and thats with PAY!!

Performance (being hot is the other) is why most of these people are getting paid. The way it is set up is that I can't pay you 10k for winning. I can pay you 10k for a post congratulating you on winning. Not much of a difference....
The big difference is you can't collect prize money which seems sort of stupid when you could just pay the athletes directly if you wanted.
