As long as the HR isn't a lie, that was certainly a hard effort.
Don't believe he didn't have kick though. I think that was a "don't really want the PR of dominating a MS kid after sitting on him" move
Yea watched the video last night and it left me quite confused. He's 38, and he was a 1:43 / Sub 4 guy at his height, but he can't kick off of 6 minute pace on a 3k? I started running at 36, and at 38 there was no way I am losing in an 18 minute 3k park run. I am vastly inferior to Nick, so I think he must have sandbagged the finish. I don't doubt that sub 6 pace got his HR up to 170 though, it looks like he must be 200 pounds right now.
I think he's in the 180s but he doesn't run a lot except for these types of competitions. But he does a lot of competition style videos while still training which is tough to balance. He did a powerlifting competition a couple months ago. I think his content is fun, I just wish he would add "former/retired" Olympic runner whenever he mentions it. I think if he slipped in more current pros for some of those competitions to really show how good they are that would be fun.
Impressive how much he’s milking “Olympic runner”!
You gotta be a dedicated hater to accuse Nick Symmonds of "milking" the Olympic runner label like he was someone from a small country who never met the A standard.
He does have good runners in his videos, he had Connor Burns in one of his mile races and didn't even put it in the title. And he's aware his demographic goes crazy for good runners their age. I give him a pass. Great guy who got me into running
The Thumbnails and Titles are Click-baity because that's what works on Youtube. If you actually watch the videos, Nick is just having a good time and promoting the sport in creative ways to a younger demographic. How many arguments have people had to "fix the sport"? Nicks actually doing trying things to bring in new audiences and have fun. Non-runners have to have a catchy headline and picture to click the video.
Relax people. He's giving kids a chance to say they raced against/beat an Olympian. I think it's nice he stays engaged with the kids, when most runners seem to disappear into the ether after their retirement. I would say his intentions are pure, even if his videos are gimmicky and lame (hint: I don't think his content is really supposed to target adults either).
He has almost a million subscribers to his channel now. That's more than Nick Bare. No wonder Sage Canaday tried to have him cancelled.
Wasn't sure what you were referring to but looks like Sage did not understand Nick when he stated the black lives matter organization does very little for black people.... which is a well known fact.

Not sure what Symmonds said about BLM, but the BLM movement (tens of millions of participants demonstrating for many reasons) is not represented or owned by any particular BLM organization (despite claims by these organizations and of course Fox News looking for a straw man to tear down). I've been told I'm a racist Marxist because I support the BLM movement. Nah, I just don't like racism and people getting murdered because of skin color.
I think we need an investigation here. You can clearly tell when Isaac fell down in the bmx portion of the course that the camera cut. Why? Nick seems to have stopped to assist, which means the kid behind them did, also. This whole video is staged to make these kids look good. Terrible.

Sage understood Nick absolutely and joined in when a Twitterati mob was trying to have him cancelled. This was at the very height of BLM hysteria and cancel culture. Yes, of course Nick was 100% right and it was a quite obvious and ought to have been an innocuous remark, but celebs were getting cancelled simply for not having #BLM on their social media accounts or for not taking the knee.
Wow! Thats it, I’m removing the interview I did with him back on my youtube channel (when I was trying to help him out because he had less followers than I did back then..). Talk about entitlement. Must’ve been a bit spoiled growing up, you think?

Right on. It's fun. It's entertainment. As someone who coaches middle school runners, I'm sure they had a great time with this.
There are lots of threads on here about decline in interest or participation or how to get more viewers on TV, etc. Well, this is exactly what he's doing here.
Yeah he only got 5th in a race where everyone in front of him died (obviously excluding Rudisha). He didn’t even medal, but he’s using it to shill his products.

Yeah.
A sub 1:43 800m OG final for 5th.
Very mediocre
And the second finisher in that race, Nijel Amos, has had a very suspicious career and even a recent PED suspension.
