Way to go Chelsea!
Her story is pretty awesome. She was a big talent coming out of HS but struggled with injury problems at Cal. I don't think I've ever seen someone as dedicated to cross training and injury rehab. Many people in her situation would have given up. She ended up having some solid performances when healthy. Then she went on to run mid 15:20s and finish 5th at USAs in the 5000. When she switched to tri I was surprised given her running success but it seems that she couldn't stay healthy for long stretches while only focusing on running.
It's awesome to see her reap the benefits of years of perseverance. She had more than her fair share of setbacks and good reasons to give up. I think most people in her situation would have ended their athletic careers at 19 or 20 and here she is at 33 reaching the highest point of her career to date. It couldn't have happened for a better person.
