It is going to be tough according to a family member who goes to Eagles practices. Allen is not involved in many plays or simply getting balls thrown his way. That's not a good sign, but he did show enough to perhaps get picked up on the practice team or interest from another team.
A track athlete and a gridiron athlete are two different animals.Track athletes far superior to Allen couldn't cut it in football,Hines,Smith Nehemiah, etc.Bob Hayes is in Canton but he was a football player who dabbled briefly in track,so was Gault.
Beyond the needless dimension of race in this post you fail to realize that Allen was an elite DI player through his entire college career. He isn’t exactly playing for the first time…
He was not an elite college football player. His 1st season he caught 41 passes for 684. 2nd season caught 9 and 3rd season caught 4.
But his agent told letsrun that he would have been a first round pick!!
Devon Allen needs a team with imagination. No team is going to have D. Allen line up at split end or flanker for 20 plus plays. He may have potential as a Cordarrelle Paterson/Percy Harvin/David Palmer guy. No way will D. Allen be as good as C. Paterson or P. Harvin but David Palmer lasted 1/2 a dozen years in the league as bit of a wing back/bit of a flanker but not good enough to play more than 2 or 3 plays as wing back and not good enough to play more than 2 or 3 plays as flanker.
He'll make more money on an NFL practice squad than as a professional hurdler. He made the right choice.
You're not even close to correct. I know what he was being offered to turn pro in track in 2014 and it was nearly $100k more than the $167k that he would make if he were to manage to stay on some team's practice squad for the entire season. That was 8 years ago, I'm sure that he's making far more than that now.
Allen chased his dream and didn't quite get there. He needs to get back on the track and focus on winning in Paris. It would be a far more significant achievement than being a low level NFL player and by far the healthier decision.

He can do both. His NFL responsibilities would likely wrap up in January. He can do a full outdoor slate up to the Championships.
life happens between 12 - 30 (being generous here) everything else is a filler
Yeah, I had such a crazy life at 12, getting in trouble for not making my bed, forgetting my middle-school math book, mowing the lawn, being driven to soccer practice with four other kids by my friend's sort of hot mom.

If he's planning on skipping OTA's and mini camps in the spring, he should just quit now, he probably won't be invited back to camp I'd he doesn't show commitment to football.

Allen is an x college football player while those you mentioned weren't. Tons of track/footballers have played NFL football.
Ollie Matson Olympic medalist, Hall of Famer, Bobby Mitchell Big 10 100/hurdlers champ, Hall of Famer, and it goes on and on.....Darrell Green, Rod Woodson, James Owens, Earl McCulloch, Johnny Jobes, Eric Metcalf, and on and on....Mel Renfro world ranked hurdler a Hall of Famer.
