UTMB is not a super technical course. TDS is. That said there are plenty of "real trails" which Americans think are technical. And it's got a lot of climbing.
Every year I'm always amazed at how the video feed at UTMB is better than it is for the major marathons in the US that get decent TV coverage, Boston and NYC. Like here they are, in the mountains of France, middle of damn nowhere and they can get a stable feed...yet on the streets of one of the most populous cities in the world (NYC), NBC can't manage to get a consistent feed without it shaking or cutting out.
I mean it's Kilian...why would you bet against him? It's like betting against Kipchoge in the marathon, Alabama in college football and Tiger Woods in golf in his prime. When someone or a team has shown excellence for years in a row, you'd be a fool to not think it's going to end well for them.
Also, it's a very long race. Kilian is coming off Hardrock 100, which resulted in a tough Sierra Zinal for him a few weeks back AND I believe COVID last week.
