The list of qualifiers will be incredibly long. 2021 adjust gross income of $50k per individual, $80k per family, public school debt (no private), must be employed and earning at least 150% of poverty level, no prior forbearance, forgiveness or deferment, $10k goes only to pay first $10k of principal so that only new borrowers see full benefit, everyone else prorates based on payment of principal, offset by any financial aid received, never declared bankruptcy, no purchase necessary, not valid where prohibited, cannot be combined with other offers, owners and employees of KPRC in Cincinnati are not eligible, funds to be cancelled in 40 annual installments of $100 a year starting in 2026 with a balloon payment of $6,000.00 in 2066 (acceptance of cancellation funds will extend loan repayment to 2066 regardless of principal balance owned).

It would be very foolish if the only caveat is income over $125,000. There are millions of trust fund kids in U.S. Some trust funds are not available until age 25. Some trust funds kids are told by their parents to take out student loans and get through college on their own THEN they will receive trust fund. If income is your only criteria, trust fund kids who receive less than $125,000 in dividends & interests will benefit from this. There is a significant need for more stipulations.

The bailout is a joke. Let's just redirect more tax money from where it's really needed like fixing the broken health care system for our veterans, and give it to people who mostly made poor choices in financing their education and career choice. Granted there are exceptions to this but too many of these people knowingly ran up a ton to debt to get degrees in low paying fields. Why is there no longer personal responsibility in America? You made the poor choice, so why should you get a bailout? It won't help the economy and will likely add inflationary pressure. It's a political stunt and it screws everyone who paid their loans, Why not refund them as well? Total joke.

My parents, I, and scholarship paid for my education. My wife and I paid for our three kids education by putting money aside every year from their birth. All three children earned varying levels of scholarship through their hard work and talent and used some of their earned money for their education. Sacrifices took place along the way. No student loans or debt.

Biden buying votes with my money is a kick in the gut to our entire family and everything my wife and I worked hard to instill in our children.

He can’t just forgive student loan debt, or any debt for that matter. The burden just gets shifted to others.

I took out student debt to get an advanced degree in the medical field. I knew based on my prospective salary I would be able to pay it back within 5 years. I did so. Now I get to pay for others student loan debt because they didn’t do their due diligence to see if they were making an intelligent investment. How much you can make in any given field is easily discovered through the bare minimum research.
