Of all the speedsters you listed, Darrell Green was the best football player.

And one of the best guys in the NFL.

Darrell Green is a HOF corner cornerback with great durability and longevity. He was also a tremendous punt returner.

Wasnt downplaying Hayes; I was referring more to the Saders and Jackson hype machines…. great athletes, yes; but not the fastest football player ; not even close.

He only had a couple seasons of track, take away that 10.08 and there isn't much. When he dd compete in the NCAA he came in 6th losing to future NFLers Mike Miller and Willie Gault. Came in 7th in the 200m.

Yes I agree great great players just not as fast as he gets credit for and he could have bee a stud punt returner. Didn't return enought, way too valuable for that.

Green won the NFL’s fastest man four times, every time he entered (‘86, ‘88, ‘89, ‘91). He beat Ron Brown and Willie Gault multiple times in the contest. He was definitively the fastest man in the NFL in the 80’s and early 90’s. and he ran a 10.08 in college when that was a legitimate world class time.

I still remember his punt return against the Bears in the playoffs, for a TD - believe it was the game winner. It was the difference in a 21-17 win. The Redskins ended up winning the Super Bowl.
