Thank the SCOTUS for this opportunity, Kansas wrote:
But, but, but ... CNN told me that the mean ol' Supreme Court BANNED abortion last month. How can it be that states are deciding for themselves whether or not abortion is legal? That can't be! That would mean the SCOTUS did NOT ban abortion and instead simply transferred the right to decide to the individual states. Some media outlets obviously lied to the American people to stir the pot. Makes sense, I guess, with an election only three months away.
What was the point of overturning Roe?
The Kansas constitution guarantees abortion up to 20 weeks, previously Roe guaranteed it up to viability (26-28 weeks). Less than 1% of abortions are carried out between week 20 and week 28, and the majority of that 1% are for complications with the pregnancy (which according to many are still able to happen also).
People have dedicated their lives to the pro-life movement, billions has been spent in the past 50 years for it to be abolished and people have won elected office on their stance to change it.
You're saying all that effort was to stop a single-digit number of abortions between weeks 20 and 28 in a few sparsely populated states?
