Is Sadie Engelhardt the next Katelyn Tuohy?

That's mostly true but she hardly fits the standard fast frosh/soph profile. Even if she never runs again she had at remarkable freshman year. Seven or eight times under 4:40, 4:11, 9:50, 2:05, etc. We have never seen a freshman girl race so much at such a high level before. And she does not look like the typical fast girl who is petite and light with a large aerobic engine.

That said, I agree no one can predict the future in any sport for a 15-year old, especially a girl.

Time out: the best runner in American history goes to the best running program in the NCAA and is already an NCAA Champion? Way to go Einstein.

Would have been smarter to choose Duke or ND or Stanford or Michigan. A free education from a top academic school is worth way more than a few years earning $50k as a pro.

my 2 cents is 1) it is hard to put a price on happiness and 2) She can someday get an MBA 9if she wants) from a better school if she keeps her grades up at NC St.

You guys need to learn about industries. Michigan doesn't come close to NC State in textiles. Duke hasn't produced a good runner, EVER? High depression rate. Notre Dame, need to be Catholic, cult-like. Stanford: I defer. Would love my daughter to go there if she would want to.

She has a 3.56... a bit low for a place like Harvard Business School but could probably get into some T20s even if she's out of eligibility

obviously its not your life to live, so you dont have the right to tell a kid whats better for them, what works for you dont work for them.. katelyn loves running and is hella good at it, while you don;t and most are not as good as her too, nor has her resume, and its funny how you think she's just gonna earn 50k yearly as a pro? lol more like 50k per month at least and whatever shes gonna earn then what about it? shes happy doing what she loves.

Katelyn is from NY, so maybe she wanted to stay on the east coast- NC State is weak academically though. Stanford in top 7 colleges in the USA. Katelyn 4.6, and I think Salutatorian- she should have chose Stanford. I think Dalia Frias from Mira Costa HS in CA was also recruited by Stanford, and was stupid to go to Duke. Nico Young's twin HS senior brothers Leo and Lex very wisely chose Stanford for Fall 2023- NAU is a weak academic college. Finally- Jenna Hutchins is DONE. Made a HUGE mistake going to BYU as a non-Mormon, but she also hasn't run since Junior year of High School and came almost last at the Oklahoma Cowboy race in September. She didn't bother to do her final semester of High School to go to BYU early- wrong. Another example of a girl peaking at 15/16. I was really hoping Sadie could beat Katelyn Tuohy's HS mile record next year.

In terms of what college she is going to, the answer to the thread title is yes.

But when Engelhardt starts college, Tuohy won’t be there.

What a dumb take. NC State is not weak academically. It's one of the the best engineering schools in the country and is top 3 in the country in multiple departments including their vet school. It's not Stanford but that doesn't mean Stanford is the best fit for a lot of academically gifted kids. You might want to check NC State's average GPA/SAT and acceptance rate. Better in all those categories than just about all of the other strong XC programs such as BYU, Alabama Oklahoma, NAU, Colorado, etc and in many cases by several standard deviations. Couple that with a great location, weather and top coach and its no secret why so many top runners are going there.
