Not how the world works. He can get $100k in a real job while eh won't get that much to run. And if he runs 5 years, he then has no chance to get a real job.

Pls don’t take that desk job now
Why not both? Work 20-30 hours a week and train.
Where is that employer?

well he fs getting a contract now
Really? He ran 3:33, which I think is amazing. However, why would anyone give him a contract? Sure, I suppose he gets one. It'll be worth $10K/year with free gear.
You guys need to get with reality in this sport. Why would Nike invest hundreds of thousands in a 3:33 guy no one knows. What is his twitter following? Oh, that's right...
I love to see it when one of our guys makes a huge breakthrough like this. And here we had several doing it. 3:33.81 is Lukezic territory. I hope he doesn't quit running like Chris did. Davis is a tough competitor and this time shows that Trials was no fluke. Good to see Drew Hunter under 3:35 finally. He is healthy and showing his potential. And I thought Charlie Hunter would make a very good 1500m runner and he is beginning to show that. I actually thought Prakel was on the team. I could swear I saw his name on the world entries from their website.
This goes without saying, but if a 3:33 isn’t enough to clearly tip the scales in favor of a pro career, then it is a pretty stark reminder that there is just not very much money in this sport. It’s a 3:50 mile equivalent for crying out loud! I’m not going to dissect and/or guess as to the reasons why there’s so little money in running, but it’s just remarkable that someone can be 7 seconds off the world record, most likely with room for improvement, and still not be sure if they should turn pro. I hope he gets a reasonably large contract that allows him to live comfortably and feel he’s not losing much vs a business career (maybe he can even work part time as some people have pointed out), but if he gets like $10k plus gear as someone above suggested, I won’t blame him at all if he decides to go ahead and start his job as planned and call 3:33 his lifetime best.
Can anyone link an article that says Davis is opting for desk job over a pro career? I can't find anything but I've heard about and would be interested to read.
In any case, Total Sports agency posted on Instagram on July 9th that he had signed with them. So it seems he is at least exploring the possibility of a pro career.
