I've always thought Hunter was overhyped, but I'm glad he's focusing more on being a miler now! I always thought he was more suited to that distance, and the 1500 is so much less competitive than 5k. Not sure why he was banging his head against the wall with the 5k for so long!
C'mon guys... Why do so many people Always have to come on here and drag guys down after a solid run. We all know Drew has been struggling and needed to gain some traction. This race was exactly that, a step in the right direction. If he'd have run 3:51, people would say that's suspicious... He ran 3:57 in high school and has only improved 3 seconds in 6 years - with the addition of super shoes (which help about 2-3 seconds).
Good result for Sam Parsons, too, and Joey. Sam has had to regain form after his calf injury and Joey just keeps chipping away. If they can just stay healthy and injury-free, there may be even faster times ahead.

Compare that to the 5,000m. Fisher, Kincaid, Nur, Mantz, Bor, Young, McGorty, Radcliffe, Chelimo all ran 13:17 or faster. 9 guys again, might be forgetting a few. Of those 9, 7 ran 13:17 or faster in the final at USAs. That’s just in the final, not considering all the other time trials where these guys can run faster than that. On Drew’s best day, his PR, which he ran in CA in a time trial setting, he’s 9 seconds off the team. 7 guys can run his PR in hot weather in a tactical race. The 15 is more likely to go tactical. The tactics in the 5 are completely different.

The name you choose is ironic because based on your logic if shoes and tracks were better today than they were 50+ years ago then Jim Ryun's American Junior [19 y.o.] times in the 800, mile, and 2 mi would be being beaten by dozens of American runners. Which of course they have not and are not. Therefore based on your logic shoes and tracks are not significantly better than they once were. But.... they are. Jim Ryun was just significantly better than all other Junior US Runners that have come after him. Better shoes and better tracks are not enough to close that Gap.
As far as why more Runners today with super spikes are not threatening El G's 1500 M record.... there are two easy explanations:
1. He was just that much better than the current crop of runners. and /or..
2. On better drugs.
Therefore your argument about what the shoes are worth cannot be ascertained simply with a comparison of current times versus all-time best times.

You totally missed the entire point, as you seem to do in every thread about the shoes. From 2010-2019 14 people ran sub 3:30 in the 1500m. If the shoes make 3 seconds difference, all 14 of those runners would be 3:26 or faster. So if thats the case, why is the world record not under threat by all these 3:30 guys? Did the worlds best 1500m runners suddenly take a massive step backwards over the last 2.5 years?
Jakob ran 3:30 when he was 17, but now can only run 3:31 "shoe converted". Same with Cheruiyot & others. Would Johnny Gregorek have run a 3:46 indoor mile with the new shoes? Yeah I dont think so.

I just wanted to make Hunter look good so I completely made up the 5k championships, and of course 7:42 and 3:54 are actually bad times, I'm really just trying so hard to make him look like he's not bad. I'm trying so hard that I made this account, then decided to make over 400 posts in the past year, just so I could post about TME results to try to make them sound good. I'm sure he's far too old to ever run a good time again, as everyone knows, 24 is where you peak as a distance runner, if not well before then. You're doing humanity a disservice staying on the LRC messageboards when someone of your intellect should be out curing cancer right now.
The better you are, the less super spikes help you. If your form is perfect you wont see much benefit. The spikes also help with efficiency which is more important for 10k/5k. The limiting factor for a sub 3:30 1500m is power output, you saw Jakob a bit ago go 3:46 in the mile ahead of pace but fall off because his body didn't have the power to keep the pace up.

You do realize that most of the top 10 1500m runners of all time were MASSIVE dopers, right? Hell, 2 out of the top 3 have had positive drug tests.
