I'm a manager, and one of my employees is a bit younger than me, and there is a lot of sexual tension when we're physically close to one another. I know she feels it too because she has on multiple occasions leaned forward near me for fairly extended periods of time giving me a clear view down her shirt. She even looks away and pretends to be preoccupied with something so I can stare. So far I've been keeping my distance and have remained professional, but this has got me thinking, is it even possible in 2022 for a male boss to have sexual relations with one of his employees without risking getting fired? Seems like it's just a total no-go zone for anyone who values their job.
You are taking a big, big risk.
You both could be fired if there is a company policy that forbids it.
You will have a reputation as a guy who hits on the women who work under him. That could come back to haunt you even if you two live happily ever after.
She will get a reputation of sleeping her way to the top if she gets any promotion.
If it goes bad (and most relationships do not end up "happily ever after"), then it creates a potentially awkward situation.
What if your boss comes in one day and says you need to cut staff and the least senior needs to go and it is her?
What if the boss comes in and says you need to cut staff? Could you be objective? Oh, and let's say you keep her and fire someone else even if they are legit. You open yourself and the company up to potential litigation. And that is not going to look good if you both ever seek another job elsewhere.
Let's say it crashes and she is bitter and decides that you were using your position of power to coerce her into a sexual relationship. That plays out badly no matter how it ends. I suspect people your industry, like every industry, talk and gossip. How willing is another company going to hire you if they think you might put them in such a situation?
Running around keeping it a secret is draining. I dated a subordinate when I was young. Finally had to tell my boss about it. It was a relief in a way. But these were olden times too. No way that would be cool today.
Heck even dating a co-worker can be dicey not to mention if you are seeing each other every day at work and then most nights and weekends, maybe that is a little too much time together? (This is likely my bias coming through as I like separation between my work and private life.)
If it is something you want to legit pursue, then maybe one needs to leave at least that department. A transfer that will not hinder either's future seems logical. Some companies are big enough that being in a different chain of command is enough (depends on the company) although even then there could be a perception issue. At least you reduce the power imbalance. Of course one changing companies is probably way better. But then if it goes south, one of you might blame the other for having to leave.
Can you endure the looks and the snickering around the office if things ends badly? Whether true or not, people will gossip about why it ended and that water cooler talk will range from you being abusive to you being inadequate in the sack.

if you're trying to date your subordinates it's an 8 on a 1 - 10 pathetic scale. just a few ticks under "teacher trying to date students".

1) Your story is made up. Good job!
2) Starting a sexual relationship with someone whose career is at least somewhat dependent on you is obviously immoral. This is so obvious that it is embarrassing that you asked the question, even if it is just trolling.
Man men have relationships with their admin assistants, alllllll the time.
I had a brief tryst with a subordinate, it was great. Unfortunately, due to social media and office friendships, people did find out. Things ended after a few months and life went on. I survived the rumor mill.
Be careful dating a more empowered employee like a jr analyst or you could be taken down when things go south. Cheaper, smart, Up an coming employee Versus you, you’ll probably lose that cost benefit analysis. Watch that Elon twins scandal, that lady will walk away with a few hundred million when the dust clears, whereas the flight attendant massage admins got chump change.
Never did try or see any relationships of equivalents. Doesn’t seem fun anyhow
And what if you need to promote someone, and it is between the person you are dating and another. And the person you are dating gets the job. Or you have a bad fight and don't want to see that person you were dating.
Regardless of your intention it is a bad idea.
I have a friend who got someone who they had been dating a job at his company. She was totally qualified for the position. But once she started, he transferred to another department so he would not be in the position of potentially being her boss. They are married and have three kids. They both still are with the same company, but not in the same division.
I'm pretty sure she isn't "giving you a few" into her shirt while she pretends to look away "so you can stare." Maybe she is -- I'm not there -- but that doesn't sound like typical behavior. The kind of assumption you are making about her desire for you to ogle her while you work is a big reason workplaces have rules about sexual relationships between coworkers of different ranks.
IF she is actually doing this, and you actually are her boss, the chances of her being a loose cannon when she doesn't want to be in a relationship with you anymore are high.
She is not attractive . Expected Emilia clarke level of beauty
The main or maybe only thing Musk finds attractive is having control. This woman is dumber than Ben Stiller, no man with any shred of a spine wants to have to deal with Musk’s personality and demands for the 18 years to come. But maybe a doormat is her true preference.

You are getting sued. She doesn’t feel it to, you are delusional. She is setting you up.
This. You probably have a reputation of staring down shirts and she was warned. Other women in the department have probably told her that you only are nice to girls who show a bit, but that upper management looks the other way. She is helping her fellow ladies and trying to get you to do something and is taking notes of everything you do to build a case to get you fired.
Ask Elon: (Reuters) - Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis, a top executive at his brain-chip startup Neuralink, had twins in November 2021, Insider reported. In April, Musk and Zilis filed a petition to change the name of the twins to "have their father's last name" and contain their mother's last name as part of their middle name, Insider said on Wednesday, citing court documents. A court docket summary on the Westlaw legal research service showed a judge signed an "Order Changing the Names Of Multiple Children" on May 11 after the name change petition from Musk and Zilis made on April 25 this year. On Thursday, Musk tweeted, "Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis." He did not refer to the Insider report. "A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far," he said. The twins bring Musk's total count of children to nine. Musk shares two children with Canadian singer Grimes, and another five children with his ex-wife Canadian author Justine Wilson. Musk and Grimes welcomed their second child via surrogate in December, a month after Musk and Zilis reportedly had twins. The billionaire said that he and Grimes were "semi-separated," according to a report by Page Six in September last year. Musk and Zilis did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comments. The report, without citing a source, said Zilis has been floated as one of the people Musk could have run Twitter Inc after his $44 billion acquisition deal. Zilis, 36, is identified on her LinkedIn profile as director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, which is co-founded and chaired by Musk, 51. She started working at the company in May 2017, the same month she was named a project director in artificial intelligence at Tesla, where she worked until 2019. She also serves as a board member at artificial-intelligence research firm OpenAI, which was co-founded by Musk, according to her profile on LinkedIn.

I would not do it! Not a smart choice at all. I would look outside of the work place. My wife and I both work at the same place I am much higher in the organizational rank structure but we are in different areas and she started working at our agency after I had already established myself and we both decided she was a good fit. Starting a relationship with a subordinate says to management that you are not leadership material.
The notion that she is inviting you to ogle down her shirt is a stretch. If not, it is atypical behaviour, even for a woman who is interested, and I'd say avoid.

There was a time not long ago when many in upper management were making wives out of their secretaries and other subordinates. One could argue that it shows that you very much are leadership material if you can pull an employee.
Many people complain about how much they can’t stand their terrible bosses. Imagine liking your boss not only enough to say nice things about them and respect them, but to sleep with them too! If you have employees who want to know you in that sense, then you are doing a great job as a leader.

Most middle and upper class adults spend an enormous number of waking hours at work. It’s unreasonable to expect people not to date. It’s what men and women do. There shouldn’t be anything subversive or damnable about it. The sole exception is if someone obviously gets a raise or promotion due to sex. Other than that it’s no one’s business.
30-40 years ago it was more acceptable but going out of favorable opinion. Do yourself a favor and don't even think about it. These days, you never know what someone's motive is, if you're being recorded, etc. It's obviously a terminating situation, so why step into that?
