Time to get a real job. He can keep running if he wants but that crappy youtube page isn't going to continue to pay the bills if he keeps running this slow.

Isn’t that a SB for him and his fastest 1500m since April 2019?
I don't think he needs to move up yet. I think he can still improve a lot at the 800m/1500m but as many other posters stated, his buildup for most of the year was so strength oriented and that came at the expense of some of his speed. I think he was not in better overall fitness when he ran 3:39 in college, just a little more speed and better tactics then. If you watch his old videos, his mid-d group at Georgetown hit the track HARD and FAST a LOT. Also he raced more because there are obviously more opportunities to race when you're on a college team.
I personally believe Spencer could benefit from racing an 800m soon. His recent 200m workout was the first true speed maintenance/development workout of the entire year. Other things he could have done differently/hopefully change if he keeps going next year:
-lifting. He and Keith both seemed against it, which made sense as an approach given where he was at fall 2021 just trying to keep things fun and simple and get back into it. But now he should add some lifting.
-small speed maintenance/development stuff during his base training phases. The best mid-d runners build base for a lot of the year, just like he did this year, but they do hard strides, short all-out accelerations on a track, or short steep hill sprints. Not as the main workout of a week, or not even on a full without day, but just as a small thing after a training run.
I think overall his dad is a good coach and will probably recognize some of these things when looking back at how things went at the end of the season.
Not a terrible performance in the 1500 today but not where he should be at all. Still 3 seconds away from his PR that he ran 3 years ago. Time to hang up the spikes?
Let me guess, you're also someone that tells everyone the "govt can't control me!!!" because they asked you to wear a mask or get a vaccine/get tested.
Let people enjoy their lives and pursue their dreams. Just because you gave up on life doesn't mean everyone else has to as well.
If someone enjoys training and competing the it doesn’t matter whether they run 3:26 or 5:00. If you enjoy something, you should do it, it’s that simple
He looked good, but he was terrible tactically the last 400m running on the outside the entire time. He could’ve waited till 300m to go to start passing but he got too impatient. Other than that I think he should feel encouraged about his effort.
This.
What is wrong with LRC? Didn't this place start off with more of an amateur athlete chasing their goals in a supportive community vibe? Spencer embodies that. Not a world class athlete but works hard & still wants to get better. Plus he gives us good insights to his training & general mindset. He puts the good & the bad out there for us.
As far as the race goes, if you watched it, he took a step in the right direction. He probably isn't gonna run sub-3:40 in a 3:40 race. It wasn't a super fast race but I think he expected it to be because he went right to the back. If he wasn't in such bad position, maybe he could have finished higher. He closed in 57, which is great. I think he's in sub-3:40 shape. He needs to get into a race that runs steady 58-59s.

It’s hard being confident and running aggressively when you’re alone for most of the training and racing experience. When your used to being on a college team and then a post collegiate club, it’s easier to take risk and go for it when you have that support system to feed off of.
dude is very fit but hasn’t quite maximized it yet. Was his coach and gf there for the race? Or was he there alone? I think if coach(dad) is present at the next few races and pep’s him up to go for it he will race better. He seems like he responds well to that type of situation and doesn’t do as well in a solo dolo race day environment. Its tough I know from experience.

Agreed. I don’t care if this is a troll. It’s plain weird timing for this post.
This is his best 1500m since April 2019.
He ran twice this winter. Both times he ran a PB (over 3000m). Of course this was not his best PB, but a PB nonetheless and he ran 7:58.0, which is very decent. He did not have a new PB since April 2019. So again, that’s pretty good.
If he was running 1:50, 3:45 and 8:15, I would understand the hang them up comment, but he is running new PBs, improving on his SB…
As someone else said, this was not a sub 3:40 race for anybody. I don’t think that anybody in his heat actually ran a PB that night.

Just look at all of the jealous and envious that bash Seth DeMoor on this forum.

And for the ignorant, misinformed or just plain ‘slow’, in their respective niches, DeMoor is much more accomplished than Spencer. That is not a knock on TAS. It’s just that owning an age group record in one of the oldest, with prestige, marathons in the world is no joke, in addition to winning it a couple of times.

What are Seth’s best results? In World Athletics profiles, his top rated performance is 964 while Spencer’s 10th best is rated 1072. I don’t think it considers ultras or trail or age group.
